Candlestick turned out to be former Great British Bake Off star Liam Charles in The Masked Dancer on Saturday.

The 25-year-old television personality told judges Jonathan Ross, Oti Mabuse, Davina McCall, Peter Crouch and special guest panelist Mo Gilligan, “I promise you I have no dance experience,” as they nominated him to self-identify.

Liam teased the panel as he slowly removed the head from his costume before turning to reveal his face.

After his reveal, Liam said of his appearance on the series, “I really loved Candlestick, the more I wore it the more I loved it,” before calling his signature dance move the “candle flick.”

He added that while he didn’t keep his role on the show a secret, he did find it difficult not to speak during filming.

Liam finished fifth in the 2018 series of the Great British Bake Off, with then-student Bake Off: The Professionals presenting the same year alongside comedian Tom Allen.

It comes after there was a triple reveal on The Masked Dancer last week after Pillar and Post had to withdraw from the competition for medical reasons.

Last Saturday, television host Steph McGovern was taken out after being revealed as Tomato Sauce.

After a vote, the judges – Jonathan Ross, Oti Mabuse, Davina McCall and Peter Crouch – decided it was time for Tomato Sauce to give up the disguise during Saturday’s show.

It came after football legend David Seaman and wife Frankie left the show after being exposed as Pillar and Post due to injury.

Reflecting on her experience, Steph said, “I loved it! I’ve had the time of my life.’

While Davina called her a “great dancer” at the time, Jonathan gushed that they could see even behind the mask that she was “having fun.”

Earlier in the episode, the first-ever masked duo Pillar and Post left the show due to a medical injury.

Skater Frankie fell during rehearsals and had to leave the show on a doctor’s prescription.

Host Joel Dommett said: ‘Unfortunately Pillar fell during rehearsals and I am absolutely gutted to tell you that they have had to withdraw from the competition on medical advice.’

Devastated: Skater Frankie fell during rehearsals and had to leave the show on doctor’s orders

‘We were devastated because we absolutely loved every minute of it! It was a lot of fun but a tumble meant our masked trip ended too soon, we had so much fun and we were sad we had to hang up our masks without being able to share our last dance with all of you!

“We loved being part of this series and we wish the other contestants the best of luck as we stay home and try to guess who all the other celebrities are!”

An ITV spokesperson confirmed: ‘Due to an injury sustained during rehearsals Pillar has had to withdraw from the competition, we wish her a speedy recovery.’

The Masked Dancer continues on Saturday at 6.30pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
