The Razer Razer, that started life as an April fools joke from the manufacturer of hardware and peripherals, will become reality at the end of August. Behold, the Razer razor.
To be more precise, Gillette’s flagship disposable blade gets an alternative skin. The Razer Razor — officially it’s the GilletteLabs with Exfoliating Bar Razor — is basically a palette switch, with Razer’s signature acid green color taking on many of the chrome elements on the vanilla GilletteLabs unit (usually found retailing for $24). .99).
A joint statement from Gillette and Razer said that the latter’s signature three-snake logo would also be part of the design. Images accompanying that statement show that the logo is part of the packaging of the special razor. Razer’s trademark slogan ‘For Gamers, By Gamers’ was used on the stand.
“Since Razer Razer launched on April 1, we’ve been inundated with requests to design one,” said Ayesha Durante, Razer’s vice president and global head of marketing.
Unfortunately, Razer’s partnership with Gillette doesn’t give us a gaming mouse case mod for an electric trimmer – “featuring 1,337 ultra-fine, ultra-sharp microblades” – as shown in the original joke announcement. Gillette doesn’t make these types of razors, and Razer probably should Buy Remington like it a contemporary Victor Kiam to get that job done.
For now, both parties seem satisfied with the collaboration, in a press release in which the term “cutting-edge technology” is used more than once. The two companies will market the razor under the motto ‘Feel Sharp, Play Sharp’ Razer did use it because of his Razer Razer joke.
