Ruth Sunderland, the group editor of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday

Ruth Sunderland, Group Business Editor of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, has been named Business Journalist of the Year.

She received the prestigious award from the London Press Club at a ceremony at Stationers’ Hall in the heart of Square Mile.

The jury praised her campaigning and ‘clear’ commentary, saying: ‘Ruth Sunderland continues to deliver hard hitting pieces on the biggest business, investment and economic stories of the day.’

Recent successes include the Save LV campaign to prevent the historic mutual insurer from being sold to private equity. The proposed sale to Bain Capital for £530 million was ultimately voted down by LV members after months of campaigning by the newspaper.
