The little-known budget Woolworths buys that will be instant Christmas crowd-pleasers: Smash cakes, brie wreaths and pavlova

Woolworths has launched a decadent range of snacks, desserts and dishes to please all Christmas party guests.

Shoppers can pick up affordable treats including a cheesy brie wreath and a festive smash cake for foodies to indulge in before and after Christmas lunch.

For starters, there's a range of cheeses and snacks for a Christmas charcuterie board and for dessert, sweet tooths will love the rocky road tarts, chocolate puddings and adorable Wally the Wombat cake.

By popular demand, the Gold Brie Wreath with Australian Pepperberry is back on the shelves.

The $18 snack features a ring of soft ciabatta bread with flavors of garlic, rosemary and native Australian pepperberry, wrapped in a wheel of triple brie.

It is simple to prepare as it only requires 15 minutes in the oven to bake until the brie is melted and gooey.

Cheese fans will also love to try the new Gold Triple Cream Brie with Pancetta and Rosemary Crumb for $16.

After 12 minutes in the oven, the baked brie becomes wonderfully moist for dipping.

There is also a generous selection of Thomas Dux award-winning cheeses, including the $5.50 Triple Cream Brie, $5 Vintage English Cheddar, Truffle Sheep's Spanish Cheese and $5 Blue Stilton.

Woolworths expects to sell 1.6 million units of brie and camembert in the weeks leading up to Christmas, and a total of around 5.5 million units of specialty cheeses during the season.

Also back on Woolworths shelves is the popular Christmas themed smash cake, filled with sweet treats.

The Gold Brie Wreath is back on Woolworths shelves for Christmas this year and cheese fans will be keen to try the new Triple Cream Brie with Pancetta and Rosemary Crumb for $16.

Another Christmas dessert favorite is the very cute Wally the Wombat cake for $25, with a dollar from each sale donated to WIRES Wildlife Rescue

The smash cake costs $38 and consists of layers of chocolate sponge and chocolate buttercream, topped with a milk chocolate dome.

All you have to do is smash the dome and inside you'll find an array of festive lollipops, chocolates and rainbow treats.

Jason McQuaid, commercial director of Woolworths Supermarkets Chilled and Bakery, said the cake was a real crowd-pleaser and added theater to the festive spread.

'It's the perfect dessert centerpiece for the Christmas table and requires no preparation. It's also a great way to get the whole family involved in the festivities; kids love taking the lead in smashing the cake and discovering all the goodies inside,” he said.

The Smash Cake is temporarily available in stores and online.

Wally the Wombat is a delicious biscuit roll covered with icing and Belgian chocolate decorations.

The Woolworths Christmas range sees the return of several other favorite desserts, including the Lemon Myrtle Meringue, the Salted Caramel Tarts and Gold Roasted Almond Shortbread.

Only available in store, Daintree Vanilla Pavlova Wreath is the perfect base for the classic Aussie dessert and can be topped with fresh fruit and cream.

There are two easy-to-make puddings in chocolate and hazelnut, as well as caramelized white chocolate flavors for $15 each.

New to the range are the Rocky Road Tarts for $7.50 for a pack of six.

They have a cocoa crust shell and milk chocolate filling, topped with mini marshmallows, raspberry jelly, shredded coconut and a pink chocolate drizzle.

Other budget buys in the Christmas dessert range include gin-infused fruit tarts, caramelised white chocolate and macadamia tarts, iced fruit cakes, runballs and frosted Christmas pudding.
