This year’s Xbox Games Showcase has finally given us an official release date Fable.
The fantasy role-playing game (RPG) is being developed by Playground Games in collaboration with Eidos Montreal and will be one of the biggest Xbox console exclusives of the coming years.
The game is scheduled for 2025 and will be released for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC. During the same presentation, it was also confirmed that the game will be available as part of Xbox Game Pass immediately upon release.
All this new information came along with a brand new trailer for the game, which focused on the newly revealed character Humphrey – a former hero played by British comedian Matt King. Humphrey is forced out of a peaceful retirement by the protagonist’s actions and doesn’t seem too happy about it. You can watch the trailer yourself and experience a lot of it Fable‘s signature comedy in the process, below.
The latest part of the long-running Fable franchise, Fable is a reboot described as a “new beginning” for the series. It was originally revealed in 2023 with a short announcement trailer that appeared during a previous Xbox Games Showcase. This was then followed by a cinematic trailer featuring a grumpy giant, played by actor Richard Ayoade.
While it’s supposedly been in the works for a while, we still haven’t seen much of the game. However, trailers show some glimpses of combat, with the main character wielding a sword to defeat bandits. We will keep our eyes open for further news.
