The iPhone 16 Pro’s new gold color is expected to be a ‘striking’ shade, rather than a ‘terrible’ brown color

At this point, we have a pretty clear idea of the majority of colors the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are likely to come in. Thanks to leaks and rumors, we’re expecting black, white or silver, and gray versions, but there’s also a fourth rumored shade that’s a little less agreed upon.

Some sources suggest that the mystery color will be bronze, while others point to a brown or gold hue, possibly called “Desert Titanium.” We’re still not sure which of these colors it will be, but a dark gold iPhone 16 Pro color seems most likely.

We are almost certain that it is the golden part, because Mark Gurman – a leaker with an excellent track record for Apple information – posted on X: “I think the new iPhone 16 Pro gold is going to be the standout color this year and might generate some interest. It looks impressive and not as terrible as the first renders.”

So Gurman seems confident that a gold color exists and that it will be an interesting, attractive option.

Unfortunately, Gurman won’t say which of the many possible shades of gold it will be, but we’re betting on a darker variant of the color, and there are several reasons for that.

First, a teaser video from a Dubai-based tech retailer, shared on X by @emkwanhints that the iPhone 16 Pro line could come in a coffee color. It’s a bit of a double entendre, since it mainly shows a camera zooming in on a mug of coffee, but the housing around the camera appears to be the same color as well.

More gold than brown

Now, we wouldn’t describe “coffee” as “gold,” but a few days ago we saw a leak stating that the iPhone 16 Pro colors would include a gold titanium hue. Based on the images provided, it appears to be somewhere between gold and brown, and it’s not all that different from the color of milky coffee.

A darker, more subdued gold shade like this would also fit in well with the typical color schemes of Apple’s Pro models, which are never particularly bright.

That said, it will likely be more gold-colored than a previously leaked image of an iPhone in brown, as that one garnered some mixed reactions and is likely one of the “horrible” images Gurman referenced in his post above.

Either way, we’ll find out exactly what this mystery color is soon, as the iPhone 16 line launches on Monday, September 9. Ny Breaking will be covering the launch live, so we’ll bring you all the announcements as they happen.
