The Intel Battlemage leak gives us hope that a more powerful 2nd generation Arc GPU might be coming after all

Intel’s Battlemage graphics cards have been a bit of a concern lately, due to the lack of leaks surrounding these next-gen GPUs, but we’ve just been treated to a new bit of leak on the 2nd-gen products (on the heels of from a leak a few days ago).

This comes from @momomo_us on

It shows a pair of Battlemage (Xe2-HPG) desktop graphics cards, one of which is codenamed BMG-G10 and the other BMG-G21.

If you have a good memory, the G10 label might ring a bell, especially since there were a few rumors going around about this GPU in 2023, and that it would be the ‘enthusiastic’ level for Battlemage with a punchy performance level.

It was indeed noted during testing in August 2023, but as 2024 rolled around it was suggested that Battlemage G10 had been cancelled.

But here it is, shown in said manifesto, which could cause some excitement among gamers looking for Intel to deliver a more powerful offering with its Battlemage range – one that could make a mark with any luck on our list of the best graphics cards.

Analysis: Let’s be cautious – but this is a hopeful sign

But we have to be very careful not to get excited here. Especially since all the recent talk from the rumor mill is about how Intel is narrowing Battlemage’s focus to lower-end graphics cards, or mid-to-lower end products.

Still, you never know what’s in the cards, and it’s intriguing to catch a glimpse of G10 again – although of course we’re not sure which GPU is behind the codename.

On a broader level, it’s just good to see some activity and leaks with Battlemage, on top of the recent leak we mentioned at the beginning. That leak from earlier this week showed some lower-end GPUs, which is more in line with the rumor mill’s expectations of late.

What we mainly get from this is the hope that Battlemage might still arrive before 2024. And this possibility has continued to be floated in recent rumors elsewhere, even though there are clear concerns that Intel’s 2nd generation Arc products won’t arrive until 2025, and perhaps not so early next year.
