James Buckley wants to do a reboot of The Inbetweeners for the money.

The actor, 37, shot to fame as sex-crazed sixth former Jay Cartwright in the hit E4 sitcom.

He co-starred with Simon Bird as Will McKenzie, Joe Thomas as Simon Cooper and Blake Harrison as Neil Sutherland.

These days, James is married to model Clair Meek and the couple have 12-year-old Harrison and 10-year-old Jude together.

The show ran from 2007 to 2010 and then spawned two films in 2011 and 2014, but James thinks a comeback would be immediately greenlit if his co-stars were all on board.

James also admitted that if a comeback was on the horizon, it would be the “most profitable” type of work he could ask for right now.

James Buckley wants to do a reboot of The Inbetweeners for the money. He told Headliners: “It’s no secret that this would be the most profitable thing I could be doing right now.

“I have children, I have a family, I have bills, and sometimes you have to take that into account, just like something practical, a boring, boring provider of a family business.

‘All those things I think about and what’s great is that I know if four of us guys get together – and (writers) Iain Morris and Damon Beesley – and we all have a chat and we say, ‘Shall we go again ?’ I know it would get the green light straight away.”

James is also unconcerned when it comes to the idea that all four main characters will be well above sixth grade at this point.

He noted that ‘men never grow up’ and he still finds the sitcom funny to this day.”

James recently revealed that the show would never have happened if he and his co-stars hadn’t been good friends.

He told OK!: ‘We spent so much time making the show and we usually all stayed in the same hotel, which meant we had dinner together most nights and saw each other the next morning.

‘That went on for years and I think if we didn’t get on so well, or enjoy being together so much, making The Inbetweeners would have been impossible.

‘But we can really move on. I miss them.’

Since the end of the sitcom, James starred in ‘White Gold’ from 2017 to 2019 and has reportedly earned £1 million through celebrity video website Cameo.

He and his wife shaped their YouTube series At Home with the Buckleys and the new podcast The Buckleys.

He said, “Even our arguments are funny because they are so stupid.

“These days, if I’ve done something that I know will annoy Clair, I save it and tell her about it on the podcast. I want her sincere response.”
