The Inbetweeners star James Buckley reveals he ‘doesn’t have much drive’ to be an actor after his staggering fortune from Cameo videos was revealed

James Buckley has admitted he doesn’t have ‘much drive’ to become an actor as he opened up about his career.

The 37-year-old actor, who found fame in the late 2000s E4 sitcom The Inbetweeners with the character Jay Cartwright, revealed he is not ‘desperate’ to take on new roles.

Instead, during an appearance on James Martin’s Saturday Kitchen on ITV, James explained that his ‘favorite thing to do is being at home’.

He said, “There’s a movie coming out sometime next year. It’s called Mother’s Pride, I just did that with Martin Clunes, which was a lot of fun.

‘But I’m not desperate to become an actor. To be honest, I don’t have much drive. My favorite thing to do is be at home. That’s where all my favorite people and all my stuff are.’

James has also appeared in the sitcom White Gold and starred in the West End production of 2:22 A Ghost Story in 2024.

He is now married to model Clair Meek, with whom he shares son Harrison, 11, and nine-year-old Jude.

The couple present their own YouTube series, At Home With the Buckleys, and James is said to have made more than £1 million through celebrity greeting website Cameo.

James added, “When we go on vacation, I get bored after the first day there because, well, I have my video games and stuff at home… When I’m on vacation, I just want to spend a week at home with nothing to do.” That would be my perfect vacation!’

The Finders Keepers actor previously revealed that the main motivation he would have to return to his role in The Inbetweeners would be financial.

He told Headliners: “It’s no secret that this would be the most profitable thing I could go into right now.

“I have children, I have a family, I have bills, and sometimes you have to take that into account, just like something practical, a boring, boring provider of a family business.

‘All those things I think about and what’s great is that I know if four of us guys get together – and (writers) Iain Morris and Damon Beesley – and we all have a chat and we say, ‘Shall we go again ?’ I know it would get the green light straight away.”
