The home of a star neurosurgeon who is found shot dead and wrapped in plastic in the attic has been broken into

The million-dollar home of the Detroit neurosurgeon, who was found shot to death and wrapped in plastic, was burglarized last weekend, just hours before his funeral.

The home of dr. Devon Hoover in the 100 block of West Boston Boulevard was entered by at least one suspect entering through a window late Saturday night and Sunday morning, police said.

It’s unclear what – if anything – was taken from the house where Hoover’s body was found after being shot multiple times in the head in the attic.

On Friday, an “interested person” was arrested on “unrelated allegations” related to the shooting, and police said they are “convinced” that the arrested man “has information about what happened.”

It is unclear if the burglary is related to the shooting.

According to a report from the Detroit free pressno one was home during the burglary.

No arrests have been made at this time in the break-in, which took place just hours before the beloved doctor was buried during a funeral service.

According to Zillow, Hoover’s home is valued at $1.2 million.

Authorities initially said Hoover had been shot once, but a medical examiner found on Thursday that he had been shot multiple times in the head.

His cause of death was officially ruled as homicide.

After the arrest, Detroit Police Chief James White said the arrested man and Hoover knew each other but declined to go into detail about the nature of their relationship.

“This was not a random act,” White added.

The official did not disclose a possible motive for the killing, but said his department has “some theories.” The name of the suspect has not been released.

“At this point, we’re happy to have a stakeholder we can interview,” he said. “We won’t stop until we have all the information we need.

“We are still actively investigating this matter,” White stressed, adding that there is no indication that there is still a risk to the community.

The beloved doctor was found on April 23 after police conducted a welfare check when he failed to show up for a family celebration in Indiana.

White declined to go into details about how the surgeon was found, but said officers were “quickly concerned about some of the things they saw in the house.”

The murder stunned the doctor’s friends, colleagues and ex-patients, who spoke highly of the 53-year-old.

His former neighbor, Roland Radinski, who lives in a $3.2 million house built by K-Mart founder SS Kresge on Hoover’s lavish street, told DailyMail.com that he “never had a fight” with the surgeon in the 15 years he knew him.

He added that those who knew the top doctor had “nothing but good things to say about him,” an idea echoed by many as tributes poured in for the slain surgeon.

“We, the family of Devon Hoover, would like to express our deep sorrow for the loss of a beloved son, brother and uncle,” Hoover’s relatives said in a statement.

“We mourn his untimely death and will miss him dearly. We are so thankful for the many kind words and stories from people touched by his life. He was a gift from God and used his talents to bless many.”

A special Facebook page entitled ‘Justice for Dr. Devon Hoover” has spawned hundreds of messages paying tribute to the “great” doctor.

Rest in peace beautiful and kind soul. You will be missed forever. You taught me how to love neurosurgery by working alongside you in the operating room,” one of his colleagues wrote.

Your patience was unparalleled. Prayers for your family and everyone you knew. We are devastated to have lost you! May your legacy and love of surgery live forever in those touched by your presence in this world.”

“Last weekend we lost a beloved colleague,” another colleague from Ascension Hospital added. ‘A very talented doctor… a man about whom no one can say anything bad. He was a real gentleman. He was sincere and loved helping people.’

A former patient added in a separate post that Hoover was considered “the best” and “wasn’t like most surgeons.”

“He said he wouldn’t operate unless absolutely necessary,” she continued. ‘Always so wonderful, knowledgeable and supportive. We are so very sad for his family, friends and colleagues. May he rest in peace.’

“I can’t believe how such a horrific tragedy can befall such a gentle, brilliant soul,” said another.

“God bless you, Dr. Hoover…I will never forget your kindness and respect.
