Beverly Hills-based Archewell is a combination of commercial for-profit and non-profit organizations founded in 2020.

The group includes the Duke and Duchess non-profit charitable foundation, as well as its lucrative for-profit business divisions that focus on media production, Archewell Audio and Archewell Productions.

The report details each of the Foundation’s achievements after working with partner organizations that specialize in helping a particular segment of society. The exact amounts donated to each partner were not disclosed, but in some cases the Sussexes were able to state the exact number of people their funds helped.

The Foundation helped fund a new playground at DeLeon Park in Uvalde, Texas, “to bring hope and healing to the children and families of Uvalde” following a massacre at Robb Elementary School in June 2022 that killed 19 students and two teachers.

The couple’s organization also helped repair the roof of a women’s shelter in Texas.

Vaccines for COVID-19

Archewell invested in The People’s Vaccine alliance, a coalition of 100 organisations, health experts and heads of state, which has been working to ensure equitable access to vaccines, tests and treatments around the world.

They also partnered with Global Citizen and played an important role in helping to equitably distribute COVID vaccines around the world. The alliance hosted the VAX LIVE concert in Central Park, which they say mobilized hundreds of millions of dollars in funds.

The VAX LIVE concert alone mobilized 26 million doses and raised $302 million for vaccine equity, resulting in the commitment of an additional 60 million COVID vaccines as part of the same campaign.

The Foundation claims that as a result of their advocacy efforts, they were able to obtain 12.66 million doses of COVID vaccines for distribution worldwide. Harry and Meghan touted this figure in a quick overview of Archewell’s top achievements.

Afghanistan and Ukraine

As far as the war-torn countries of Afghanistan and Ukraine are concerned, the foundation says its partnership with the Human First Coalition received a grant that enabled them to move nearly 8,000 people from Afghanistan to safety.

The grant also helped the coalition provide aid to more than 10,000 people in Afghanistan and Pakistan and cover the living expenses of 1,000 Afghans in safe houses in both countries.

The grant helped Team Rubicon help 4,000 refugees move in and establish their homes, the Sussexes explained. The donation also directly helped 853 families move into new homes.

In Ukraine, a grant provided critical funding to the Jewish charity HIAS, which expanded its humanitarian efforts in Ukraine, Poland, Moldova and Romania following the outbreak of war in the country.

The funds helped increase assistance with housing, food and transportation and provided legal assistance to an unspecified number of refugees.

The grant also helped train men and women to clear landmines and avoid being injured by explosives. Funded 373 sessions with the Halo Trust, helping some 10,000 people learn how to avoid being injured by discarded explosives.

Afghan refugees are processed inside Hangar 5 at the Ramstein airbase in Germany in September 2021.
