The Grand Tour is set to return with more special episodes

The Grand Tour will reportedly return with more special episodes after fans wondered about the future of the show, new reports suggest.

A series of high-speed crashes and delayed episodes meant questions were raised as to whether the show would return.

The last special episode, dubbed A Scandi Flick, aired on Prime Video in September and the second of the season was scheduled to premiere around Christmas.

While the episode has yet to materialize, a source assured viewers that more specials are on the way, but they may take longer than originally promised.

has been reported by Sun that the show’s stars Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond won’t even start filming until October.

A TV source said: ‘Devotees might have been disappointed and worried by the sporadic delivery of the specials. But they can relax.

‘It’s more due to the busy schedules of the hosts, as well as the amazing content that takes time to set up. But that means they’re unlikely to come out until 2024.

“The producers are ready to start the shows in a few weeks and the cameras will start rolling towards the fall.”

The first series of the car show ran for between 11 and 14 episodes, before the format was scrapped in favor of larger “special” episodes in the fourth season.

The fourth season had four special episodes that aired months apart.

So far, only one episode of the fifth season has aired, and the Christmas episode that was scheduled to air has yet to be filmed.

The first episode followed the three hosts as they traveled to the Arctic Circle, where they visited frozen race tracks, ski resorts, and a submarine base.

It also included May’s high-speed accident resulting in a broken rib after crashing at 75 mph.

James has broken his silence about his ‘dramatic’ accident in September, joking that he did it to keep the show from being ‘boring’, weeks after it happened.

The 59-year-old host was involved in the terrifying accident while filming the special episode of his Amazon Prime show The Grand Tour in Norway.

Speaking before the show’s special, James said radiotimes.com: ‘I guess. I did it deliberately, I knew otherwise it would be boring. [so I] It kind of led him over the edge!’

The accident occurred when the presenter braked too slowly while racing rally cars with co-hosts Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond and “broke at least one rib” during the incident.

‘It was very brief, It made a big bang. It wasn’t really that terrible, I don’t think so. It seems pretty dramatic, but basically it was fine.

He went on to say that the car was quite crooked but that the local mechanics helped him, although he couldn’t do much due to his painful injury.

He went on to explain that despite the accident, filming continued as normal: “But actually, because we got the car running, we continued, we lost about a day, because I had to repair the car and I was in the hospital for the night. night. But other than that, I really don’t think it made any difference.’

Paramedics helped James out of his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8 and rushed him to the hospital for a brain scan and X-rays.

After the star was given the go-ahead a day later, a source said Sun: ‘It seemed extremely worrying at first.

Jeremy and Richard were concerned for their partner and the paramedics were quick to come.

“Medical personnel were on standby due to the dangerous nature of the show and were needed after the incident.”

The source continued: ‘James hit his head quite hard on impact and was bloody from it. He complained of pain in his back and neck. He broke at least one rib and was pretty shaken up.

During the same press event, Richard admitted that he was ‘surprised that his [James] limbs did not fall off [during the accident]’.

He also poked fun at James’ ordeal by joking that it was “flattering” that his Grand Tour co-star “considered that level of impersonation,” after he himself was involved in two accidents.

In June 2007, Richard overturned his famous £2m electric supercar, and in 2006, the presenter suffered brain injuries in a 288mph car crash.

speaking to Sun of James’ recent car accident, Richard joked that it’s ‘interesting that James takes over the accident’ while jokingly accusing his colleague of copying his ‘loud, vibrating shirts’ and ‘little goatee’.

He continued: “And now he’s taken the only thing I had left, which was crashing. It’s very flattering that he considers that level of impersonation, but I’ll let him have that… He can have the crash!”

Richard said of his friend’s accident: “It was a moment of singular lack of judgment on James’s part.”

Earlier this month, James was rushed to hospital after crashing into a wall at 75mph while filming the stunt scene.

He took turns revving up the rally cars with his fellow presenters, but braked too slowly and “broke at least one rib” during the horrifying incident. They drove the cars through a tunnel towards a rock wall at a Norwegian naval base and the tunnel lights. it only came on when the cars accelerated, giving the three only seconds to react when they ran out of space.
