The Google Pixel 8 phones appear in new and unofficial unboxing shots

The Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 8 Pro will be fully unveiled at a special launch event on Wednesday, October 4, and we’ll of course be covering it live. In the meantime, we’ve got some unofficial unboxing photos to mull over.

These images appeared on Facebook and have since been withdrawn – but not before 9to5Google got hold of them. There isn’t much information about it, but the photos appear to have been taken in some sort of factory.

It seems that in this case we are dealing with the Pixel 8 Pro, apparently in white and black (Google is rumored to be calling Porcelain and Licorice respectively). They also correspond to the official photos already published.

The Pixel 8 isn’t left out, however, as there are unofficial photos of the packaging of the more affordable device published on the social network formerly known as Twitter. The box says the color here is Hazel, which looks quite gray.

In the box

From these photos we can see that the Pixel phones will come in packaging very similar to what we saw with the Google Pixel 7 and the Google Pixel 7 Pro. Just like last year, there is a charging cable in the box, but no charging plug.

We can also see what appears to be a matte glass finish on the back of the Pixel 8 Pro, an expected change this year that was mentioned in previous leaks. Otherwise it’s the recognizable Pixel design, with the raised camera bump on the back.

Google has already officially announced the Pixel 8, the Pixel 8 Pro and the Pixel Watch 2, but hasn’t told us much about these devices yet. The details should be filled in next Wednesday, when we can get a good look at the gadgets.

One of the unknowns at the moment is the price, and the rumors so far aren’t that encouraging – it looks like we might have to pay more for these phones than the comparable models launched last year.
