The Goldbergs is coming to an end, 10 years after its debut on the small screen.

The show will officially conclude in May, with the upcoming season 10 finale functioning as the season finale, Variety reported on Thursday.

The nostalgic show followed the antics of the Goldberg family and first debuted in 2013. It is the longest-running live-action network comedy currently on the air, according to Variety. However, the series has not been without controversy.

Jeff Garlin, who played the Goldberg patriarch, left the show amid allegations of on-set misconduct in 2021.

The show also suffered the loss of star George Segal, who died at age 87 following complications from bypass surgery in 2021.

“It has been an honor to be a part of ‘The Goldbergs’ for the past decade,” Wendi McLendon-Covey, star and executive producer, said in a statement. “I am very proud of what we have accomplished with the program and I am very lucky to have had such a rewarding experience. I will miss my television family and every last member of the crew.

“We are very proud of the 10 years we were able to spend with The Goldbergs,” Craig Erwich, president of ABC Entertainment, Hulu and Disney Branded Television Streaming Originals, said in a statement about the show’s end. “This is an incredible team and we are so grateful for the joy and entertainment they have provided to so many during this time. We look forward to celebrating his final chapter together with the fans in the coming weeks.”

ABC released a clip showing the series finale. The Goldbergs are saying goodbye. The final episodes this spring on ABC,’ said the narrator.

In addition to McLendon-Covey, the show stars Sean Giambrone, Troy Gentile, Sam Lerner, and Hayley Orrantia. Patton Oswalt provides the voice of him as the narrator.

After Garlin left the show, the showrunners addressed his absence by killing off his character.

Similarly, after Segal’s death, his character Pops also died on the show.

The show consistently drew ratings for ABC during its run, and has been airing on the signature Wednesday comedy block since the start of the second season, according to Entertainment Weekly.

However, the fun-loving show made headlines in 2021 following allegations of on-set misconduct against Garlin.

The actor abruptly left the popular ABC comedy series at the end of 2021 following a human resources investigation into claims of inappropriate “verbal and physical conduct” on set.

Garlin reached a mutual agreement with Sony Pictures Television to leave the production immediately, Deadline reported at the time.

According to the publication, Garlin only had one day of shooting left for the series’ ongoing ninth season, which began airing in September.

The comedian admitted in a lengthy interview with vanity fair in December 2021 that Human Resources had investigated him multiple times for complaints of inappropriate contact and offensive language, though he claimed at the time that he had not been fired.

Garlin’s character Murray was killed off at the beginning of The Goldbergs season 10, with Sean Giambrone’s character Adam explaining in the opening narration “just a few months ago, out of the blue, we lost my dad.”

Last month, news broke that she had landed her first job since leaving the show: a role in Mindy’s Kaling’s Never Have I Ever.
