This year it is ten years since The Game Awards took place, and at that time the annual event of Geoff Keighley has been firmly established as the main prize-giving ceremony for the game industry: the Oscars of the Gaming. It remains promotional to the point that it is still demonstrably better known for its trailers than for prices, but that is changing. And although the winners are rather conservative, they are broadly representative of the critical consensus. The voice organ consists of a wide range of international game media, so there is a good chance that the choices of your favorite publications and critics count for The Game Awards. The main prize of the evening is of course Game of the Year – and there are clear indications for what a game of the year is at The Game Awards, based on ten years of data. On November 18, The Game Awards announced the nominees for these and all other categories, in which these indicators were largely confirmed. Yet it is a particularly open race in 2024, without a real leader.
