The Galaxy Book4 is open for pre-orders; here are 5 features I’m excited about

Samsung’s Galaxy Book4 series is available for pre-order and the product list shows features that were previously unknown or only hinted at.

We’ve briefly discussed the laptop line in recent months. Some hardware specifications for the Galaxy Book4 Ultra were released in December. They revealed that the model would include an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card and a 2TB SSD. That batch of information also included details about the Galaxy Book4 Pro, stating that the device could come with a 14-inch display and your choice of an Intel Core Ultra 5 or Core Ultra 7 processor.

Then in January, the tech giant hinted that the laptop would become the center of an ecosystem of Galaxy devices. Everything we’ve learned so far is just the beginning of what the Galaxy Book4 can do. Below we’ve highlighted the five key features that we think will make the line stand out from the crowd.

1. Samsung Galaxy Ecosystem

The Samsung Galaxy Ecosystem is quite fascinating. It allows users to connect other Galaxy devices to the laptop. For example, you can use your Galaxy S24 Ultra in a detachable webcam. This is quite a big deal, because the Galaxy Book4 has a 2 MP camera, while the S24 Ultra has a much superior 200 MP wide-angle lens. Instead of struggling with a sub-par experience, your smartphone can deliver “stunning clarity” instead.

Additionally, users can connect a Galaxy Tab to the laptop, which can be used as a second monitor for work. There’s a catch: you need a recent model, such as the Tab S7 Plus, Tab S8 or the Tab S9 Ultra.

2. Improved connectivity

Samsung has also improved the connectivity between the Galaxy Book and other hardware, making them more intertwined. With Multi Control you can seamlessly send files or images from a phone to the laptop. Quick Share behaves similarly, although it differs in that you can move files from one computer to the Book4. Of course, Phone Link returns as it transfers recent notifications, calls and messages from your phone to the larger laptop screen.

In addition, the company is introducing the new Buds Auto Switch feature. This allows you to change the audio source coming through your Galaxy Buds2 Pro from the computer to your smartphone when you receive a call. This happens automatically.

3. AI technology

Unsurprisingly, the Book4 Ultra adds a number of AI-powered features. The one that impressed us the most is called Photo Remaster. Using a ‘smart algorithm’, the software can clean up blurry-looking photos and adjust exposure in images. This way, photos are not overly bright or too dark.

Artificial intelligence will also play a role in boosting the hardware. The internal microphone features AI noise cancellation to improve audio quality. Additionally, the Intel Core Ultra CPU and GeForce RTX GPU pairing are supported by an NPU (neural processing unit) that enables optimal performance.

4. Room-filling speakers

Speaking from experience, laptop speakers aren’t great for the most part. They lack depth. Manufacturers seem content with equipping tinny-sounding drivers in their models, but not Samsung. The company saw fit to install a quad-speaker system on the Galaxy Book4 Ultra, consisting of two tweeters and two woofers. The array has been refined by Austrian audio brand AKG to ensure crisp, clear sound.

Dolby Atmos is also present, which, if you’re not familiar with it, is a type of audio format that can immerse the user in a bubble of sound. It’s something you’ll see featured on the best home theater soundbars.

5. Top level display

Saving the best for last, the Galaxy Book4 Ultra features a stunning 16-inch display with 3K resolution (2,880 x 1,800 pixels). It features a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, enabling velvety smooth performance, and it supports the full DCI-P3 color gamut. Visually heavy content, whether for work or entertainment, requires a machine that can handle that kind of workload. And it looks like Samsung’s laptop can handle this with aplomb.

It’s important to mention that the Galaxy Book4 is a thin, lightweight model, so most people will likely take it outside. To ensure visual fidelity, the company has equipped the screen with anti-reflective glass to reduce annoying glare and Vision Booster software to further improve color contrast, even outdoors.

Pre-orders for the Galaxy Book4 series start at $1,099 for the standard model and peak at almost $4,000 for the Ultra version. You even have the option to customize the hardware configuration to your needs. The shipping date depends on what you receive. The Book4 Ultra will ship on February 26, the Book4 Pro on March 4, and the standard model won’t be released until March 25.
