Despite its record-breaking debut on Prime Video, also known as one of the best streaming services in the world, The rings of power season 1 was not viewed kindly by everyone. The series was watched by more than 100 million people worldwide, but based on the unimpressive 38% Rotten tomatoes audience score, viewers were not entirely charmed by the first episode of eight episodes. Many people felt that it did a disservice to the lore of Middle-earth and other aspects of Tolkien’s source material. However, with the first trailer for the second season suggesting that it will be more faithful to the literary works of the legendary British author, the makers of The Rings of Power appear to have learned some valuable lessons from the less popular elements of season 1.
For what it’s worth, I liked it The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power‘s first season. It wasn’t perfect, but in my review of The rings of power Season 1 I said was “epic fantasy at its magical best; a series that simultaneously honors the legendary works of JRR Tolkien and tells a compelling original story in a fictional world steeped in a breathtaking amount of history.” If you need a refresher on where things left off at the end of the Season 2 prequel, read my ending explainer article at The rings of power‘s first season.
