The trailer for Fast X, the penultimate chapter in the Fast & Furious film series, dropped on Friday.
Franchise regulars like Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Michelle Rodriguez and Jason Statham appeared in the nearly four-minute clip along with some new additions to the series.
Notably absent from the film was Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who has played a character in several movies but has a longstanding feud with Diesel.
The Fast X trailer opens with Diesel’s Dominic Toretto surrounded by his surrogate family of wrestlers and racers.
His grandmother, Abuela Toretto (Rita Moreno) gets up from the table and congratulates her grandson for building the family despite so many obstacles.

Toretto’s wife, Letty (Rodriguez), asks Dominic what he’s thinking, and he explains that he’s worried about losing someone he loves, especially his son Brian (Leo Abelo Perry).
The film then cuts to a message for Toretto from Dante (Momoa), the son of one of Toretto’s old adversaries.
“You’re about to learn all about fear,” he says before blowing up a Humvee on a cobblestone street.
The trailer then takes the viewer back to the events of Fast Five when Dante’s father was killed by Dominic and Brian O’Conner (the late Paul Walker).
While telling Dominic that he stole his family and his future, he also threatens him by saying that he is going to “break” Toretto’s.
Dante then blows up a large part of a populated city, raising his arms in a triumphant gesture.
The trailer introduces Brie Larson’s character, Tess, a secret government agent who warns Toretto of the dangers he faces.

It looks like Dom may try to turn himself in at some point because he’s going to visit Dante, who replies, ‘Never accept death when suffering is due.’
Sung Kang appears as Han Lue before Helen Mirren’s Magdalene ‘Queenie’ Ellmanson-Shaw places a comforting hand on his shoulder.
Dom reflects on the races saying that they used to “compete for respect” in the early days.
“Today, I’m running to stop a bloodbath,” he admits before challenging Dante to a race.
“That’s the problem with having such a big family,” replies the villain. ‘How do you choose the ones you save?’
The race then leads into a long montage showing the different members of Toretto’s crew taking down armored trucks and even helicopters while in their muscle cars.
Reprising his role: Sung Kang appears as Han Lue

Deckard Shaw (Statham) shows off some powerful martial arts moves as he fights several men who come out with their machine guns before asking Lue if she can still drive.
‘What do you think?’ she answers confidently as a shot of him turning a corner plays.
Dante kidnaps Brian and Dominic chases after him, radioing him, “You can never break up my family.”
The trailer ends with Letty waking up next to Cipher (Charlize Theron), a hacker from the previous two installments of the series.
The pair fight with Letty leveling what appears to be a knockout blow at the end.

Won’t Go Back: Being one of the last entries in the series, Fast X boasts an incredible cast. However, Johnson, who played agent Luke Hobbs in previous films, declined to return for the film (pictured in 2011).

He previously expressed his dissatisfaction with the way the set was executed. In a now-deleted Instagram post, Johnson voiced his complaints.
“There is no other franchise that boils my blood more than this one,” he wrote. ‘My female co-stars are always amazing and I love them. My male costars, however, are a different story. Some carry themselves like stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that aren’t too chicken [sh*t] do anything about it anyway. Sweet butts.’
Asked by Diesel in an online post to return, Johnson turned him down saying he felt he was being manipulated since Diesel had invoked the name of his late co-star Paul Walker.
“Vin’s recent public post was an example of his manipulation,” he said in a statement. CNN interview. “I didn’t like that he mentioned his children in the mail, as well as the death of Paul Walker. Leave them out of this.

Although Johnson won’t be returning, another superstar actor could join the series for the 11th Fast & Furious movie if Diesel has his way.
On Thursday, Diesel said he wants Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. to play the villain in the series’ finale.
“Without telling you too much about what’s going to happen in the future, there’s a character who’s the antithesis of Dom who promotes AI and self-driving cars and a philosophy that carries your freedom,” he said. Variety.
He added: “There is someone who believes that this is the future, and that is in direct disagreement with Toretto’s mentality.”
For his part, Rodríguez offered the name of Matt Damon as a possible addition to the cast. Damon has experience in a big-budget action franchise, having played Jason Bourne in the Bourne series.
Fast X will be released on May 19, 2023.
