The fantastic Case of the Golden Idol is coming to Game Pass in July
Microsoft has revealed what’s coming to Game Pass in the first half of July. There aren’t any real standouts, but the lineup does include at least four excellent indie games that are definitely worth playing during this relatively dry period for major releases.
Polygon’s favorite is probably The Case of the Golden Idolcoming to Game Pass on July 9th: a hilariously macabre point-and-click detective mystery set in the 18th century, with an art style you’ll never forget. It’s also an excellent puzzle game with perhaps the most satisfying murder mystery detective mechanics in a video game.
But it is far from the only choice worth making. Tchia (out July 11) is a cheerful, Zelda-influenced open-world exploration game set in a version of the beautiful Pacific island nation of New Caledonia. If you’re in the mood for something a little less subdued, we’d like to direct you to Neon white (also July 11), a fast-paced, first-person, anime-style action game about slaying demons. It’s a speedrunner’s delight, with a perfect difficulty curve, and you’ll find that ranking up with your friends gets pretty competitive.
Also worth mentioning: herd is a new release coming to Game Pass on day one on July 16th. This laid-back multiplayer game about the joys of flight isn’t out yet, but what we’ve seen looks promising.
Here’s everything coming to Game Pass in the coming weeks.
