Okay, so Universal is committing the cardinal sin of showing us a little too much of one of 2024’s new movies, but hey, it looks like a banger.

Gosling and co-star Emily Blunt seem to have a natural, flirty chemistry that will have the audience eating it up. Meanwhile, the film’s supporting cast – including Ted Lasso alumnus Hannah Waddingham, Black Panther‘Winston Duke, Everything everywhere at once‘s Stephanie Hsu, and Kraven the Hunter‘s Aaron Taylor-Johnson under his number – is a fantastic line-up of talent. Oh, and David Leitch (Deadpool 2, John Wick) has directing duties, so you can be sure that The Fall Guy will be full of explosive action and plenty of top-level stunt work.

Speaking of stunts, Gosling stars in the lead role as Colt Seavers, a battle-scarred stuntman who leaves the film business for physical and mental health reasons. However, he is lured back into the entertainment industry by Blunt’s Jody Moreno, his ex-girlfriend and one of the world’s leading film filmmakers.

Unfortunately for Seavers, he won’t be back to do any more stunt work. In fact, the main star of Moreno’s new film Tom Ryder (Taylor-Johnson) has disappeared, and Moreno surprisingly wants Seavers to track him down. As Waddingham’s ruthless director tells Seavers in the trailer, “Nobody suspects a stuntman,” so what could go wrong?

Drew Pearce (Fast & Furious: Hobbs and Shaw) wrote the film’s screenplay, while Leitch, Gosling, Guymon Casady and Kelly McCormick are among the producers. Pearce is also joined by Geoff Shaevitz and Glen A. Larson on the film’s executive production team.

Larson is also the creator of The autumn man The TV series this film is based on, although we suspect the film won’t take much inspiration from the show, which originally ran for five seasons on AMC in the US between November 1981 and May 1986 – but we don’t expect either that Gosling’s Seavers starts releasing show tunes.

The Fall Guy will premiere in theaters on March 1, 2024.
