The Euros’ ‘most amorous manager’! Germany’s Julian Nagelsmann can’t keep his hands off reporter girlfriend Lena Wurzenberger – and welcoming the WAGs is all part of his plan despite her causing ‘problems’ in his last job
After a 2-0 win over Hungary secured Germany’s place in the knockout stages of Euro 2024, head coach Julian Nagelsmann ran into the stands in celebration.
While the German national coach cheered in the Stuttgart Arena, he immediately found his girlfriend Lena Wurzenberger in the audience and gave her a passionate kiss.
The sight of the German boss sharing a moment of intimacy with his partner has become a common sight at the tournament, with the loved-up couple sharing the festivities together, leading to the manager being dubbed the ‘most amorous’ of the Euros.
Their relationship generated a lot of media attention when it was announced. BILD reported in June 2022 that then Bayern Munich boss Nagelsmann and his now ex-wife had split, and just weeks later the same publication announced his relationship with Wurzenberger with the caption: ‘Julian Nagelsmann loves BILD reporter. ‘
Wurzenberger was removed from her role as Bayern Munich club reporter by the German newspaper, and their romance is now regularly discussed in the same publication.

It’s rare for football managers to show affection for their partners, but Wurzenberger is the first person he wants to celebrate with after matches in Germany.
After Germany’s 2-0 win over Hungary, he climbed into the stands for his winning kiss with his partner.
And after the trek with Switzerland, German security brought them together and they shared a kiss on the edge of the tunnel.
The couple were seen laughing together and beaming from ear to ear, without hiding their relationship from photographers.
He doesn’t seem to mind that the photographers are capturing them together, as he said afterwards: ‘If everyone wants to take a picture of her, that’s not such a bad sign. I like taking pictures of her too.’
Wurzenberger has been photographed during matches with the German flag painted on both sides of her face and wearing a shirt with Nagelsmann’s nickname ‘Julsi’ on it.
After a few minutes of chatting, he sprinted back to the locker room to speak to his players before meeting up with Wurzenberger again later that evening as players and their partners travelled to Herzogenaurach.

You can imagine that being a national coach during a major tournament is one of the busiest times in their lives.
But Nagelsmann also finds time for intensive training with his 26-man squad to spend time with Wurzenberger.
According to BILD, he and his partner played a tennis doubles match against national team analyst Frederik Holscher.
Nagelsmann was heard roaring across the pitch as he kissed and flirted with his girlfriend during a drinks break, another sign of affection caught on camera.
The German manager also regularly lets families and WAGS in, so his players have time to spend with their loved ones. His partner has been spending time with the other WAGS.
They clearly plan a long and fruitful relationship with each other and have a pet Labrador named ‘Rosalie’. It was also recently revealed that the couple had purchased a £1.49 million (€1.75 million) home in the idyllic community of Fieberbrunn – a market town of around 4,500 people in the Austrian state of Tyrol.
It is not known whether they see this as their future home.
Wurzenberger also has a very good relationship with the manager’s two children and shares a number of common interests.
Nagelsmann had announced his divorce from his wife Verena just weeks before news of the relationship with Wurzenberger became public
They are both interested in equestrian sports and say they own horses together. Last summer they visited a polo tournament near Munich. There were even rumors that Nagelsmann wanted to try polo himself – the national coach has a soft spot for various sports and is also a passionate mountain biker.
Despite being together for over two years now, it’s fair to say their relationship hasn’t been without controversy.
When Nagelsmann began his first season at Bayern Munich in 2021, his successes and tensions were closely reported on by several members of the German press, including a certain Wurzenberger.
Wurzenberger’s role was to cover the Bavarian giants for BILD, the country’s biggest sports gossip outlet.
One story that received a lot of attention in the German media concerned Nagelsmann’s private life, namely his relationship with his wife Verena.
Nagelsmann shares two children with his Verena, a son named Maximilian who was born in 2015 and a daughter – whose name has not been publicly revealed – born in 2020.
In early June 2022, Bild reported that Nagelsmann and his long-term partner had split, and just a few weeks later the same publication made his relationship with Wurzenberger public under the headline: ‘Julian Nagelsmann loves Bild reporter’.
The pair were pictured cozying up on a yacht while on holiday together in Ibiza before Nagelsmann returned for his second season with Bayern.
After the relationship became public, Bild announced that Wurzenberger had been removed from her role at the club and would instead serve as a police reporter in the city.
Despite rampant speculation surrounding his relationship, Nagelsmann enjoyed a successful start to life, with the club building a commanding lead in the league and topping their Champions League group by winning all six games while conceding just twice.
Off the field, however, reports began to emerge that Nagelsmann’s budding romance was causing discontent behind the scenes.
Despite reports that she would no longer report on the club, former Bayern star Markus Babbel claimed that Nagelmann’s relationship with the journalist was a “big problem” within his team.

‘I know his relationship with the Bild reporter is a big topic in the dressing room.’ Babbel told Blick.
‘It didn’t come across well at all that he was with her. His girlfriend was a big problem for Bayern.’
‘There was a breach of trust, because some players could no longer communicate what they thought. They were afraid that everything would end up in the newspapers.’
After a break for the World Cup in Qatar, Bayern had a slow return to domestic football, with a run of just two wins from six games leaving them ceding significant ground in the title race.

Defeat against Bayer Leverkusen in March saw them overtaken by Borussia Dortmund for top spot and the writing was suddenly on the wall for Nagelsmann.
During a skiing holiday, Nagelsmann was told that he had been fired and replaced by Thomas Tuchel. The club’s then CEO, Oliver Kahn, claimed the decision was made due to ‘major fluctuations in our performance’.
Just days after her partner was removed from his position, Bild announced that Wurzenberger would be leaving the publication to take up a role at BMW as “spokesperson for the supplier network and sustainability.”
A Bayern Munich legend claimed the relationship led to players distrusting the manager
Undeterred by his departure from Bayern, Nagelsmann was announced as Germany’s new head coach in September and was tasked with securing victory at the European Championships.
Nagelsmann was less than ten years old when Germany lifted the trophy at Wembley in 1996, but the former centre-back has molded his team into an effective force.
Wurzenberger has been a constant presence as Germany comfortably progressed from Group A and will no doubt be there tonight as her partner attempts to guide his team into the last eight in Dortmund when they take on Denmark. If he succeeds, don’t be surprised to see them kissing again.
