The epic Doctor Who season 14 trailer invites you to get started ahead of its Disney Plus release
The first trailer for Doctor who season 14 is here, and it teases an epic, cinematic adventure that will be both fun and emotionally torturous.
Released today (March 22), the official teaser for the first season of Ncuti Gatwa, which saw Gallifrey’s legendary time traveler arrive a week later Doctor who The release date of season 14 was announced.
We already had an idea of some of the time-hopping adventures the 15th Doctor and Ruby Rose (played by Millie Gibson) would have this season. Some initial footage, released in late 2023, teased episodic stories set in 1960s and Regency-era England. Thanks to the first official footage of this season, we have a much clearer idea of just how surreal, funny and heartbreaking the duo’s journeys through time and space will be.
Looks fantastic, right? Consider Russell T. Davies, who helmed seasons one through four Doctor who‘s 21st century reboot is back as the showrunner of the iconic sci-fi series, we weren’t too concerned that it wouldn’t look and sound great. Still, it is good to see that our confidence is not misplaced.
For anyone interested in learning more about the overarching plot of season 14, here’s some additional information, courtesy of a BBC press release: “The Doctor and his companion Ruby Sunday travel through time and space, with adventures all the way back to the Regency era in England. to war-torn future worlds. During their adventures in the TARDIS – a time-traveling ship shaped like a police box – they encounter incredible friends and dangerous foes, including a terrifying ogre, and the Doctor’s most powerful enemy yet.
Gatwa and Gibson, whose Doctor and Ruby worked together for the first time Doctor whoThe 2023 Christmas special will be joined by a large number of famous names in season 14. Among the returning faces from the aforementioned special, as well as from other seasons, are Jemma Redgrave (she’s back as UNIT leader Kate Stewart), Anita Dobson (Mrs. Flood), Michelle Greenridge (Carla Sunday), Yasmin Finney (Rose Noble) and Bonnie Langford (Mel Bush). Stephen Moffat, who led the show through seasons 5 through 10 and wrote one of the scariest episodes in recent history in 2007 Blinkalso wrote an episode for Gatwa’s debut season.
Jonathan Groff (Frozen), Jinkx monsoon (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Lenny Rush (Am I being unreasonable?), Callie Cooke (Henpocalypse!), and Aneurim Barnard (Dunkirk) are also among those who will appear throughout season 14. In a press release, the BBC confirmed that Varma will play a mysterious character known as The Duchess. However, there’s no word yet on who the other actors are playing.

Following the October 2022 announcement that Doctor who will be released on Disney Plus, season 14 marks the first time Time Lord’s latest outing will be simulcast on Disney Plus in the US and Australia, and on BBC One/BBC iPlayer in the UK.
Before the show moves internationally from its previous homes – Max (US) and Foxtel/Stan (Australia) – to Disney Plus, Doctor who collection was also made available for the first time on the streamer, apart from Disney Plus itself. Non-UK viewers are hoping that sooner or later the entire collection will be available in full on one of the world’s top streaming services.
Doctor who Season 14 will have its Disney Plus arc with a two-episode premiere on Friday, May 10 at 7:00 PM PT / 4:00 PM ET in the US. The film will be available on BBC iPlayer on Saturday, May 11 at 12pm BST in the UK (it will also air on BBC One later that day), and at 10am AEST on Disney Plus in Australia.
