The entire ISLAND in Maine is going up for sale for $400,000 – complete with a lighthouse and a tiny one-room house with no bathroom or running water (but lots of privacy!)
An entire island in Maine has gone on sale for $400,000, but there’s a catch: there’s not a single bathroom on the whole thing.
That’s right, you can now become the owner of a 7,405 square foot piece of land smack dab in the middle of Anasagunticook Lake, but you’ll need to use a Porta-Potti or a composting toilet when you go to the toilet.
Built in the 1930s, the man-made private island comes with a cozy cottage, a 18-foot-tall (5.5-meter) lighthouse that seats four at the top, and a jetty—but it sadly lacks plumbing.
The house measures only 20 by 7 meters and contains only one large room, which serves as a kitchen, dining room, living room and bedroom.

Despite the lack of running water, many people on the internet were entranced by the idea of living on the remote island.
“As an introvert, I feel this in my bones,” one wrote. Another agreed: “New favorite house. Never knock on the door again.’
“Nobody shows up unannounced… (Perfect),” said someone else.
A fourth comment read: ‘Absolutely beautiful. A great place to get away from it all.’
“My thoughts and prayers for the Amazon delivery driver who has this route,” another user joked.
However, some people were turned off by the lack of facilities. One person commented, ‘Off-grid electric, compost toilet, no running water? No thanks.’
“When you poop, does it go into the lake?” someone else asked.
“Going to the supermarket is hard enough as it is,” proclaimed another user.
“I thought this was a cute bedroom until I realized it was also the living room,” another commented.
“No running water = no thanks,” said another.
