A mistake by Ramsdale in the first minute allowed Carlos Alcaraz to give Southampton an early lead.
Ramsdale has been impressive for the most part this season and has made excellent saves at times, but he is still capable of making costly mistakes.
In addition, last night’s game marked the first time in Premier League history that the team at the bottom of the division scored three goals against the leaders.

After Alcaraz opened the scoring, Theo Walcott scored to make it 2-0 against his old club.
Gabriel Martinelli got a goal back for Arsenal, but Duje Caleta-Car restored Southampton’s two-goal lead.
A late Arsenal rally saw Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka score to make it 3–3, but the Gunners were unable to get a winner.

Arsenal are now five points ahead of title rivals Manchester City, but Pep Guardiola’s side still have two games to play and the two sides also have to play against each other at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.
Arsenal have shown great consistency throughout much of the season, but they have now drawn their last three consecutive league matches.
After the high-profile game against City, Arsenal will then take on Chelsea, Newcastle, Brighton, Nottingham Forest and Wolves.
