The eerie identity of a mysterious creature lurking beneath the ripples of a Cambridge pond known to locals as ‘Loch Fresh Monster’ identified by officials

A mysterious creature nicknamed the ‘Loch Fresh Monster’ lurking beneath the ripples of a dark natural pond in Cambridge Massachusetts has been identified.

Multiple sightings of a slim, slithering, 15-foot-long creature lurking beneath the water of Fresh Pond were reported just weeks before Halloween.

Rumors swirled in late September when fliers arrived on the Fresh Pond Reservations’ fences asking if anyone had spotted a strange creature from the water.

David Braccio claimed he saw a 15-foot-long animal appear 30 meters from the shore in early September while he was walking with his nine-year-old daughter.

β€œIt was just like this thing in the water, he was like a hump,” Braccio said NBC10.

“When you see something you’ve never seen in your entire life, you don’t know what it is, your brain doesn’t put it together.”

He continued to post flyers around Fresh Pond with a crudely drawn image of the supposed monster.

“We saw a mysterious creature coming on the water,” he wrote. ‘We’re sure it wasn’t a snake, fish, river otter or axolotl.

β€œIt quickly disappeared below the surface,” he continued.

“It was all very quick, but for about 20 seconds after that I noticed a ‘boiling’ of water under the surface, as if the creature was changing direction and diving underwater,” Braccio said the Boston Globe in an email.

The latest legendary creature in Massachusetts has been called the ‘Loch Fresh Monster’ or ‘Freshie’ by locals who have either spotted it or heard stories about it.

Theories abound, with some speculating about a cover-up, especially after Braccio’s fliers were removed by city officials within hours of being posted on Sept. 19.

“Is there something they don’t want us to know?” Braccio asked in a flyer he updated later that month.

Several people have come forward claiming to have seen the mysterious creature, including one who has had ‘multiple sightings’ over the past three months.

Braccio even bought a trail camera and prepared to place it near the water, hoping to gather evidence.

Fresh Pond, which holds a depth of 55 feet and contains 1.5 billion gallons of drinking water for Massachusetts residents, has been a source of life for centuries.

An abundance of eels live underwater, and they can grow up to five to six feet long, according to Timothy Puopolo. the city water department ranger.

City officials investigated after seeing Braccio’s flyer and eventually came to a conclusion.

Mark Gallagher, acting managing director of the Cambridge Water Department, said: “there is nothing to hide.”

“There is a very plausible and rational explanation,” he added.

Aeration tubes were placed under the water to inject air and keep water clean.

On calm days, one can easily see bubbles between the ripples, according to Puopolo.

The mysterious, snake-like creature called ‘Freshie’ is a stump.

Puopolo believed that a ‘lumpy, twisted limb about 15 feet long’ that he had noticed over the past few weeks, combined with bubbles from the tubes, matched the description of the ‘monster’.

The tree branch may have fallen into the pond during summer storms, Gallagher added.

“It’s that perfect illusion that there’s a big creature swimming in the water, but in reality it’s just a log,” Gallagher said.

The city’s investigation was closed, but Braccio wasn’t convinced.

“I don’t think the City is growing anything in the pond for like warfare, I mean I doubt it’s possible,” Braccio said.

“I’m the one who’s going to get a picture and I’m going to have the last laugh.”
