The dramatic Honda 0 Limousine and 0 SUV will lead the Japanese brand’s electric revolution from 2026

Honda has unveiled the prototype versions of the two electric cars that could hit the market as early as next year.

The 0 Limousine and 0 SUV have made their debut in Las Vegas, with the two models debuting at the Consumer Electronics Show twelve months after unveiling their 0 Series concepts.

The Japanese brand promises that the 0 models will hit the market from 2026 with next-generation technology, including ‘ASIMO OS’ autonomous driving functions, as well as interior space and sporty styling.

Both cars follow Honda’s ‘Thin, Light and Wise’ design philosophy, but while the 0 Saloon is the flagship model, the 0 SUV is aimed at larger families who need extra interior space.

The unveiling of the prototype comes after it was recently revealed that Honda and Nissan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding amid a possible merger that would see the two automotive giants work together to conquer the electric vehicle market.

Honda has unveiled the prototype versions of its new EVs: the Honda 0 Series starts with the 0 Limousine and 0 SUV, which will arrive in North America in 2026

Shared design for the 0 Limousine and the 0 SUV

Both the 0 Limousine and 0 SUV will feature Honda’s new ‘Thin, Light, and Wise’ philosophy and ‘man maximum, machine minimum’ cabin design.

The aim is to increase the efficiency of the interior of both cars to give driver and passengers as much space as possible without having a model with a huge footprint.

To achieve this, Honda will use a special ‘thin’ (or low) EV architecture to improve aerodynamics and passenger comfort.

This will also make the EVs as light as possible to improve range and performance.

Honda’s announced that it will develop its architecture for both models and future models – combining multiple ECUs responsible for controlling the vehicle’s systems into a single core ECU – with Renesas Electronics Corporation and that it will use the in-house developed AI software will develop.

Both models, and all future 0 models, will be equipped with Honda’s ASIMO OS technology.

ASIMO was originally developed in 2000 as a humanoid robot that could walk autonomously and became a beloved icon of the robotics world in the 2010s.

Today, Honda says it is used for the ‘Wise’ part of Honda’s design and allows Honda to combine robotic technologies with advanced intelligent technology to offer a unique in-car software platform, ‘ASIMO OS’.

ASIMO OS includes automated driving, advanced driver assistance systems and in-vehicle infotainment.

It also means that all cars can be continuously updated via over-the-air updates (OTA).

Battery size and range are still unknown, but 0 Series models are said to offer “stress-free charging and worry-free battery performance.”

Recognizing that fast charging times are of paramount importance to EV owners, the 0 Series models will be able to quickly charge from 15 to 80 percent in around 10 to 15 minutes.

Honda has also pledged to “limit battery capacity (range) degradation to less than 10 percent after 10 years of use.”

When the concept was shown at CES 2024, Honda showed off a swoopy, wedge-shaped sedan with a swept-back design and a sporty two-door look, tailored for “ultimate driving pleasure.”

And the exact same styling design has been maintained for the prototype version that will go on sale in 2026.

This means that the driver gets a low height and that there is much more interior space than the exterior of the car would suggest.

As mentioned, the Limousine will focus on the ‘Wise’ part of the ‘Thin, Light and Wise’ theory, with particular emphasis on Level 3 automated driving technology.

This automated technology will be used in practice for the first time in the 0 Saloon.

It will use ‘ultra-personal optimization’ that will customize each user’s mobility experience.

The mid-sized SUV is based on the Space-Hub concept that Honda showed to the world at CES.

While the Limousine is all about being ‘sensible’, the SUV is all about Honda’s ‘space’ philosophy.

Honda promises that the “Thin, Light, and Wise” approach will give the SUV a spacious cabin that maximizes every inch and an “exceptionally clear and unrestricted field of view with greater flexibility.”

While Honda hasn't revealed range or pricing, the SUV, like the Limousine, is expected to offer customers great range, space and advanced EV technology at an 'affordable' price

Autonomous driving (AD) technology.

Honda says it will “aim to bring affordable automated vehicles to more customers around the world through the Honda 0 Series.”

All 0 Series models will be equipped with Level 3 automated driving.

This system will use Honda’s eye-off technology (developed in 2021) which will initially help with traffic congestion on highways, but will be expanded in use through OTAs.

The vehicle will take charge, allowing people to complete a ‘second task’ such as watching a movie or participating in a meeting.

New Honda logo design and durability

Honda has redesigned its logo for the first time since 1981, with the new ‘H’ symbolizing two outstretched hands, as will also appear on the 0 Series.

The 0 Series will also feature sustainable materials inside and out and have a nod to the natural environment in the design.

When will the 0 series models arrive?

Both the 0 Limousine and 0 SUV will go into production in North America in the first half of 2026 and then likely roll out to global markets – including Japan and Europe – later that year.
