Families can now perform a doctor’s check from home with a new all-in-one ‘multiscope’.
Withings said BeamO measures vital health data that is usually only collected during visits to a GP practice.
In less than a minute, the wearable device uses an array of sensors to monitor everything from temperature and blood flow to lung and heart health.
First unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the French health giant said it will first be available in the US for £195 ($249.95) after receiving regulatory approval.
Portable and smaller than a smartphone, the BeamO is packed with sensors and combines a thermometer, pulse oximeter, ECG and stethoscope.

In less than a minute, the wearable device uses an array of sensors to monitor everything from temperature and blood flow to lung and heart health
For example, by lightly gripping the device, it can measure the user’s blood oxygen and heart rate and perform an ECG at the same time.
It also has sensors that emit light waves to interpret blood flow patterns and temperature, as well as acoustic information from the chest and back.
The BeamO alerts users to possible fever or infections and detects possible cardiovascular problems, including atrial fibrillation.
It also automatically records all the family’s vital data on the Withings connected app, where users can see their full history of measurements that can be shared with doctors.

Withings said the ‘revolutionary’ invention would now put the data generated from a visit to the doctor ‘in the palm of your hand’.
Founder Eric Carreel said: “BeamO is a transformative multiscope device. Once upon a time, body temperature was the only health scan routinely performed at home.
‘BeamO will revolutionize the measurement of key vital signs performed during medical visits from the comfort of your own home.
‘This crucial data will provide an essential overview of overall health or warning signs of potential areas of concern. Instead of measuring these metrics in a clinical setting a few times a year, it becomes possible to assess them every day.”
