The developers of Baldur’s Gate 3 want players to delete their early access saves and uninstall the game before the release of 1.0
Baldur’s Gate 3 is only a few days away, but Larian has provided some important advice for those who played the game during early access leading up to launch.
In short, the developers advised that everyone who played Baldur’s Gate 3 during early access, take the time to uninstall both the early access client and delete their saved games (through PC Gamer). The developers also urged players to remove any mods that may still be hanging around.
In a message on Baldur’s Gate 3 Twitter pagesaid the developers: “We recommend that players with Early Access uninstall the game after deleting their save files. This will reduce the risk of file conflicts when the final game downloads, and should mean you can play more and not have any problems to solve!”
This news comes along with the reveal that the upcoming fantasy RPG will also not be available to preload before its full release.
In another Tweet, Larian Studios told fans that “Unfortunately, we are unable to make Baldur’s Gate 3 available for pre-load – Steam does not support pre-load for Early Access titles as switching to pre-load will disable the game for people currently playing Early Access .”
We still recommend deleting your saves/mods and doing a fresh install of Baldur’s Gate 3 in preparation for August 3rd!August 1, 2023
For those with slow internet connections, this means even more waiting before they can get their hands on one of the most exciting games of the year. 2023 is shaping up to be a great year for CRPGs, and it’s a shame some will see one of the genre’s biggest releases of all time.
Although the loss of savings has been a clearly advertised price of entry Baldur’s Gate 3 early access, it will be a shame to say goodbye to those characters. Despite all being called Tav, these avatars came in all sorts of different shapes and sizes. Unfortunately, it seems that these first forays into Larian’s sprawling fantasy title must now be forgotten. Although they are gone, the Tavs will forever remain in our hearts.
Baldur’s Gate 3 might just be one of those best RPGs from the decade to date. However, if you’re looking for narrative games with a very different tradition, our list of the best JRPGs is worth a look.
