The debate response that showed Kamala Harris failed to deliver on her promise to explain her policies…despite insisting she had a plan

Vice President Kamala Harris was asked about her changing policy positions during Tuesday’s presidential debate, but she only explained her policy change on fracking.

ABC News debate moderator Linsey Davis noted that Harris has previously called for a ban on fracking, a mandatory government gun buyback program and decriminalization of border crossings.

“So my values haven’t changed. And I’m going to address every point — every point you’ve made, anyway,” Harris began.

She first made it clear that she had changed her position on fracking in 2020, as it was a major issue in the state of Pennsylvania.

“I made that very clear in 2020. I will not ban fracking. I did not ban fracking as vice president of the United States. And I was actually the deciding vote for the Inflation Reduction Act, which opened up new leases for fracking,” she said.

The new fracking leases were included in the 2022 funding bill after Sen. Joe Manchin (I-WV) demanded they be included in the Inflation Reduction Act signed by President Joe Biden.

But Harris’ policy shift on fracking only occurred after Biden selected her as his running mate.

Harris advocated for a ban on fracking during a CNN event on climate change during her failed presidential campaign.

“There is no question that I am in favor of a ban on fracking,” she said in September 2019.

As California’s attorney general, Harris even sued then-President Barack Obama’s administration for opening up the possibility of fracking off California’s coast, calling it a “threat to the health and well-being of California’s communities.”

Harris did not provide details about her policy shift on guns, specifically her support for a mandatory buyback program for some semi-automatic rifles.

Instead, she said she and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, were both gun owners.

“We’re not taking away anyone’s guns. So stop lying about these things all the time,” she said, without elaborating on her previous positions on gun control.

In addition to her support for a government-led mandatory gun buyback program, Harris also supported executive action to restrict gun sales during her presidential campaign.

The vice president declined to say why her campaign team no longer supports decriminalizing border crossings.

Harris even drew criticism from Trump for copying his proposal to abolish the tip tax and campaigning on securing the southern border.

“She’s going to adopt my philosophy now. I was actually going to send her a MAGA hat,” he said, adding, “if she ever got elected, she’d trade it in and that would be the end of our country.”

Harris protested, “That’s not true,” when Trump tried to remind viewers that she had supported defunding police, but she didn’t go into details.

Trump also reminded viewers of Harris’ support for transgender surgeries for jailed illegal aliens and her efforts to free violent protesters in Minneapolis by raising bail money.

Harris still has a number of issues to address in areas where she took a progressive stand during the 2020 presidential election.

She has previously supported a mandate for automakers to stop producing gasoline-powered cars by 2035, a ban on plastic straws, reparations for slavery, building a wall on the southern border, decriminalization of all illegal drugs for personal use, and decriminalization of prostitution.
