Star Wars Bandits‘ Creative director Julian Gerighty said he was disappointed with the game’s review scores.
Ubisoft’s open world Star Wars The game officially launched on PC and console last week and currently sits at a comfortable 76 on Metacritic despite mixed reception on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
In a recent interview with GamesRadarGerighty admitted he was “a little disappointed” when the review scores were released, but he’s glad players have a connection with the game regardless.
“I’m a little disappointed with Metacritic. Of course, the recognition from the press and critics is very important to us, but players also really feel connected to what we’ve done,” Gerighty said.
The creative director added that there is a “level of pride, happiness and a sense of accomplishment” within the team at Massive Entertainment and that the team has “literally aimed for the stars” during the game’s four-year development.
Gerighty continued and said that Star Wars Bandits will be a game that players will return to for years to come and that the studio has plans to continue improving.
“This is going to be a game that millions of people are going to play for years, and we’re never going to stop improving it,” he said. “Well, that’s a lie, we’re probably going to stop improving it, but today my mind is not on stopping improving it.”
As for what’s to come, Massive Entertainment doesn’t have any plans for quality of life improvements just yet, but we do know that more post-launch content will be coming later this year.
As detailed in the Season Pass Roadmap, Star Wars Bandits will receive two story packs, both of which can be purchased separately if players have not purchased the Gold or Ultimate Edition.
Story package one is called Wildcard and is expected to arrive in Fall 2024, and will follow Kay Vess as she teams up with Lando Calrissian to infiltrate a high-stakes Sabacc tournament. Story Pack Two is A pirate’s fortuneand will be released in spring 2025, featuring the return of the popular pirate Hondo Ohnaka.
