The US, India and the Republic of Ireland are the countries outside the UK that love the Royal Family the most, according to flight searches and bookings for King Charles’ Coronation

The US is the country outside the UK that loves the royal family the most, according to new research.

Travelers from the US have booked the largest number of flights to the UK for King Charles’ Coronation weekend, followed by tourists from India (second) and Australia (third).

Canada and Italy also seem to share a passion for the British monarchy, ranking fourth and fifth respectively.

The research also analyzed the countries that recorded the largest increases in searches for flights to the UK within 24 hours of the coronation date being announced. The Republic of Ireland tops this ranking, with searches for flights to the UK up 580 per cent after May 6 was confirmed as the coronation date.

The second largest increase came for domestic travel within the UK (442 percent), followed by searches from Italy (third, 355 percent), Spain (fourth, 349 percent) and the Netherlands (fifth, 313 percent).

The rankings are based on trend data from Travel gatea global technology company that facilitates bookings for international travel providers.

The remaining countries in the top 10 with the most flights to the UK are Nigeria (6th), South Korea (7th), Germany (8th), Thailand (9th) and Spain (10th).

Notably, even though there was a high volume of flight searches from the Irish, they didn’t seem to go through with booking a trip.

Overall, bookings for flights to the UK for the coronation weekend rose by 149 per cent within 24 hours of the coronation date being announced.

Looking at the rest of the top 10 countries that searched for flights after the coronation date was confirmed, the US ranks sixth with 293 percent more searches than the day before.

Bookings for flights to the UK for the coronation weekend rose by 149 per cent within 24 hours of the coronation date being announced

Germany, meanwhile, ranks seventh with a 257 percent increase in searches, while Switzerland ranks eighth with a 231 percent increase in searches.

The rest of the top 10 are Singapore (ninth, searches up 175 percent) and Canada (tenth, searches up 172 percent).

Overall, most searches for flights to the UK came from Europe over the coronation weekend.

Travelport says of the coronation: ‘Almost 70 years after the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in June 1953, this historic event is expected to draw thousands of spectators from around the world to celebrate the new monarch.’
