The Coronation Street cast is pictured on set for Gemma and Chesney’s wedding

The Coronation Street cast were on hand on Wednesday when they arrived on set for Gemma Winter and Chesney Brown’s wedding.

Filming got off to a good start with Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) pictured in a bridal shop trying on a glittering gown, while Sam Aston, who plays her husband-to-be, was dressed and booted for the big day.

The actress, 35, was pictured wearing a warm red ITV jacket between takes as they shot the scenes in the cold weather.

Sam, 29, arrived on set in a burgundy hoodie alongside his best man Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) before changing into a gray plaid suit with a burnt orange tie and handkerchief.

The actor appeared in good spirits as he chatted with Alan, who had coffee ahead of filming – but will their big day go off without a hitch?

Gemma’s brother Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) and her mother Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) arrived for the ceremony.

Daniel Brocklebank, who plays Reverend Billy, smiled after swapping his bright blue quilted jacket for a dog collar.

Guests including Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) and Dev’s children Asha and Aadi (Tanisha Gorey and Adam Hussain) arrived for the church wedding.

Gemma revealed earlier this year that she would like to get married, which came as news to Chesney.

The cost-of-living crisis has proved challenging for the couple, with things further complicated after Gemma received a huge gas bill.

And desperate to support his poor sister Gemma, Paul took out a loan to help pay her towering bills.

Paul recently plunged into debt after deciding to sue Carla for negligence.

He is fired after injuring his hand in the car accident and is convinced to claim thousands of pounds in compensation.

When Peter learned that Carla was not insured to drive the van, he offered Paul the money to withdraw his claim, but he hesitated.

Paul was eager to get back to work on the yard despite his hand injury, but Ed asked him to take it easy for now.

Paul is a little concerned as he struggles to tie his shoelaces, but decides to carve out some panels with his left hand.

Ed barely saw him dodge the spinning blade of the saw and risk another injury, and ordered Paul to go home.

Paul then admitted to Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) that he was sent home from work and hasn’t been feeling well since the accident, and is forced to tell Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) that he can’t help her with her gas bill . .

Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) ruefully told Paul he couldn’t hire him back on the yard without the medical clearance, so Billy and Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) convinced him to sue Carla for negligence.

Paul is devastated when Dr. Gaddas tells him that his hand could take up to 12 weeks to heal, which is why Gemma urged him to go after Carla (Alison King) for lost earnings.

After realizing that Carla was not insured to drive the van, Peter (Chris Gascoyne) offered Paul £15,000 in damages, but asks that he drop the case against Carla in return.

At first, Paul accepted, but on Dee-Dee’s advice, he returned the £15,000, explaining that he had to wait until he had a full diagnosis.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
