The cookbook for when you’re DRUNK: Recipes that are safe to make after you’ve had one too many

The DRUNK Cookbook: Firefighters create recipes that are safe to make after you’ve eaten too much, including the chicken nugget sandwich.

  • Firefighters have created recipes for those who are too drunk to be trusted near an oven.
  • The book You’re Cooked makes fun of those who are too intoxicated to cook properly
  • Recipes include chicken nugget sandwiches, spicy beans, and ‘non-fried rice’

All of us at some point in our lives (or more) have stumbled through the front door and embarked on a mission to enjoy a delicious after-night party.

But considering that one in four fires starts in the kitchen and half of all fatal home fires involve alcohol or drugs, the firefighters have put together a humorous cookbook for those who’ve had too many.

You’re Cooked offers drunken revelers the chance to satisfy their late-night cravings without the risk of burning down their house or even succumbing to a doner kebab.

Created by firefighters in New Zealand, the 117-page cookbook features chapters including You’re Toasted, You’re Crushed, You’re Lost, You’re Canned, and You’re Twisted.

For those wondering what’s on the menu, You’re Cooked features recipes including a chicken nugget sandwich made in an air fryer, microwaved hot beans on toast, and sushi cones. He even suggests skipping any preparation by stealing his housemate’s ‘Forbidden Lasagna’.

The hilariously elaborate recipe book includes a 'Chugget Sandwich' (pictured), a version of a chicken nugget sandwich made safely in a deep fryer.

Party-goers can wash down their safely prepared meals with a glass of ‘Blue Soberaid’, which includes water, honey, multivitamins, among other ingredients, to prevent a hangover.

You’re Cooked describes itself as “a cookbook for all those home chefs under the influence.”

She adds: “A buffet of recipes that don’t require a stovetop, helping to satisfy late-night cravings without burning down the house.”

A video to promote the book shows visibly intoxicated chefs trying out the recipes, with one struggling to butter his bread while another can’t stop the food from spilling out of his mouth and into a bowl.

Other recipes deemed safe include ‘You-done Udon’ for noodles made with a kettle, as well as ‘Unfried Rice’ prepared in the microwave.

The cookbook guides the late-night chefs with humorous instructions. For “Uncanned Beans,” he tells the revelers to “release the beans from their tin prison and dump them into a microwave-safe bowl.”

He adds: ‘To spice up your world, add a pinch of cumin, curry powder and chili powder to the beans.

Alternative recipes include a microwaved spicy bean toast (left) and a teapot noodle sandwich (right)

Nuke the beans for 2 minutes, stirring the beans halfway (cold beans = bad timing).

‘Butter the toast, drop the beans on the mattress of greasy bread and chew.’

Despite the obvious light-hearted nature of You’re Cooked, the firefighters insist the book has a serious message for those tempted to cook a feast after a night on the town.

‘Getting distracted while cooking is the leading cause of home fires. Stay away from the stove if you are drunk or high,” the campaign warns.
