The College Football Playoff is Set! Michigan and Washington are joined by Texas and Alabama as undefeated Florida State is out in the final year of the tournament’s four-team format
The tide will roll if the 'Noles stay home. That's the decision the College Football Playoff selection committee made Sunday to select the top four teams that will compete for a national championship.
The Alabama Crimson Tide made a strong case for inclusion after knocking off former No. 1 team Georgia in the SEC Championship game, and the committee decided their victory meant more than ending the season perfectly.
In doing so, the committee broke their precedent and decided to disregard an undefeated Power Five conference champion in the Florida State Seminoles for the first time in the CFP's ten-year history.
Despite a 13-0 victory, the CFP committee decided that the loss of FSU quarterback Jordan Travis was enough for Alabama to put the Seminoles in the conversation for a national title.
Alabama joins Michigan, Washington and Texas in the fight for a championship this winter.
