The clever iPhone trick to turn your keyboard into a mouse pad

You’ve typed out your poetic response to your useless ex and realize there’s a typo in the first line of your prose…

For the uninitiated, this could mean a massive exercise in erasing and retyping, which could be enough to put you off the whole thing.

But fear not, there is a simple workaround that lets you use your iPhone keyboard, similar to a desktop computer mouse, to scroll over the text and get rid of the offending error.

And a married TikTok couple has gone viral for revealing this little-known trick.

Charles and Allie Marie Trippy, better known as @charlesandallie on TikTok, shared a clip of themselves showing you how to do this on your iPhone.

And users have praised them for the hack, with many saying they “never knew.”

She does because then he asks her to type a few words of nonsense into the notepad app

The video, titled “One of my favorite hidden iPhone tricks,” begins with Mr. Trippy asking his wife to “open your notebook on your phone.”

Pressing the space bar allows you to move through the text and also specify more precisely on which word or letter you want to place the cursor

“This is going to be something really cool.”

He then asks her to type a few words of gibberish into the app so he can demonstrate how the trick works.

Then Mr. Trippy says, “Don’t hold down the spacebar.

“Now slide it back and forth.”

This creates a cursor, which you can move over the text, and indicate more precisely on which word or letter you want to place the cursor on the text.

And Mrs. Trippy was shocked when the cursor at the top of the screen moved seamlessly past the line of text she had just typed.

“Wowsers!” she said.

The TikTok maker also showed his wife how if you press and hold on a letter, more options will appear with, for example, accents on top of the word.

Ms Trippy added: ‘That’s the biggest problem I’ve always had.

“The more you know lol.”

A second user simply said, “THANK YOU.”

Another commenter noted that this feature is not exclusive to Apple products, writing, “It also works on Android.”

And the pair answered back and said, “Even better.”
