The cheapest Xbox console is a Fire TV Stick, now half price during Prime Day
Now that Microsoft has launched the Xbox app for Fire TV, you can play Xbox Game Pass games without any additional hardware — no Series X, no Series S, and no lengthy HDMI cable from your Windows PC to your living room TV. It’s the future Microsoft has been hinting at for years, and with all Fire TV products on sale for Amazon Prime Day, there’s no time to embrace it.
If you already have a television that you like, Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max is 42% off for Prime members — just $34.99, down from the usual $59.99. The 4K Max supports Wi-Fi 6E and Dolby Atmos, and includes a remote control you can shout “Alexa” at for easy navigation (it has regular remote buttons, too). There’s also the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (so non-Max) for $24.99, which is 42% less than the regular price of $49.99). The Fire Stick 4K also supports up to Wi-Fi 6.
And of course, if you need a TV to use, we can suggest the following: 55-inch LG C3 — LG OLED TVs are a favorite of Polygon staff — or the 65” Samsung Frame TV which is not only suitable for exhibiting video game art.
To play Xbox games via cloud streaming, you’ll need Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which has hundreds of titles and is regularly updated with both first-party titles and some great third-party selections, including this week’s addition of Capcom’s wonderfully bizarre Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. You can pick up 3 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate from Amazon for $44.99 (was $49.99) or try it for a month for $14.99 (was $16.99).
