The Brian Jonestown Massacre: Rock band brawl on stage at Melbourne show as horrified fans scream and boo

A shocking brawl broke out between members of American rock band The Brian Jonestown Massacre during their show in Melbourne on Tuesday evening.

Fans watched in horror as singer Anton Newcombe and guitarist Ryan Van Kriedt exchanged punches on stage at The Forum before punching each other to the ground.

One viral clip shared on social media appears to show Van Friedt punching Newcombe.

They then chase each other around the stage before ending up on the floor together, where they wrestled and argued some more.

Venue security then rushed the stage in a desperate attempt to break up the scrimmage.

According to the Sydney Morning HeraldNewcombe opened the disastrous show by claiming he had been held up with a knife earlier that day, saying the incident had left him ‘tired and emotional’.

“I used most of the voice I wanted to give you,” he told the crowd.

“Unfortunately, on this day, I can only give you everything I have.”

The publication claims that the rocker hurled “a barrage of swear words” at the audience throughout the show, before Van Kriedt finally had enough.

Van Kriedt then began taking a swipe at the frontman, before chasing him across the stage and wrestling him to the ground.

Fans of the band shared clips of the first fight with X and Instagram, with one writing: “Dramatic ending to the Brian Jonestown Massacre show in Melbourne tonight.”

Another wrote: ‘The Brian Jonestown Massacre gig at the Forum Melbourne tonight ended absolutely absurdly. No matter what happened, I will always love their music and wish you the best Anton.”
