The Boys spinoff Gen V adds a little bit of Euphoria to the show’s superhero satire

The world of The boys has often been a sophomore – with all the guts, butts and other brutal effects – but that will at least be a little more understandable in the new spin-off series Gen V.

On Monday, Prime Video released a trailer that gives us the best and most gruesome look at the series yet. And for those who thought Gen V sounded like The boysbut with a little Euphoria in the mix, well, you thought right.

Gen V is set during the third season of the main series. It follows a group of supes at Godolkin University, America’s only university exclusively for young adult superheroes (and run by Vought International, of course). The show will follow the highly competitive and hormonal supers as they push their limits to compete for the top rankings in the school and (true to the show’s ethos) will be a subversive – and likely gory – take on superheroes in training.

The spin-off series stars Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, Marco Pigossi, Clancy Brown, Alexander Calvert and Jason Ritter. There will be a few Boys also cameos, with Jessie T. Usher, Colby Minifie and PJ Byrne reprising their roles (as A-Train, Vought-stooge Ashley Barrett and Dawn of the Seven director Adam Bourke respectively).

Gen V premieres with three episodes on September 29 on Prime Video.
