The Boys is getting a prequel series about two of its biggest villains

The boys is in its endgame as a series, but is just getting started as a TV empire. The violent Prime Video superhero satire is getting a third spinoff soon to join the college set Generation V and the animated The Boys: Devils, together with the still in development The boys: Mexico.

Revealed by Deadline and formally announced on The boys San Diego Comic-Con panel on Friday, the new series is a prequel called Vought Riseand will reunite the previous The boys Guest stars Aya Cash and Jensen Ackles play Stormfront and Soldier Boy, respectively. (The duo will also produce.)

Vought Rise is “a twisted murder mystery about the 1950s origins of Vought, the early adventures of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, then known as Clara Vought,” according to The boys boss Eric Kripke and Vought Rise showrunner Paul Grellong,

In The boysSoldier Boy and Stormfront are two of the first successful superheroes created by the Vought Corporation. Like the current cast of The Seven, their backstory is a lot darker than the public knows.

A release date is still a ways off, but until then, fans can expect to see Jensen Ackles return as Soldier Boy in the upcoming fifth and final season of The boys.
