The body of missing Goldman Sachs banker John Castic is recovered from a creek half a mile from Brooklyn Mirage two days after his disappearance
The body of missing Goldman Sachs banker John Castic was discovered Tuesday, two days after the Manhattan financier disappeared from a Brooklyn nightclub.
A significant police presence was seen at Newtown Creek, about half a mile from the Brooklyn Mirage, when the remains were pulled from the water around 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Several large NYPD vessels and rigid inflatable speedboats were first seen in the water shortly after 11:30 a.m., and police confirmed the body was Castic several hours later.
The 27-year-old Chicago banker disappeared after telling friends he would take an Uber to his apartment early Sunday morning.
The discovery comes just weeks after another man was found dead in the same creek after disappearing from the same Brooklyn location.
John Castic, 27, was last seen leaving the Bushwick-Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday morning

In a statement to DailyMail.com, the NYPD said, “On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at approximately 11:09 a.m., police responded to an 911 call from a person being assisted in Newtown Creek near 1100 Grand Street, within the confines of the 90 precinct.
Upon arrival, officers saw an unknown and unconscious man floating in the water. NYPD harbor units pulled the assisted man out of the water.
EMS also responded to the location and declared the assisted man deceased at the scene.
“As part of an ongoing investigation, the man helped has since been identified as John Castic. The Chief Medical Examiner’s office will determine the cause of death.”

Karl Clemente was last seen at Brooklyn Mirage on June 11 and his body was found in a nearby creek on June 16. Police do not believe his death is suspicious, but are investigating
Castic graduated from DePaul University and began working as a senior analyst at Goldman Sachs in August 2022.
He and friends had been out to see Canadian electronic duo Zeds Dead the night he disappeared, with the last photo of him shared on social media showing him arriving at the Brooklyn Mirage around 9 p.m. Saturday.
His friends say he left the location at 2:30 a.m. and planned to take an Uber ride back to his apartment in Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
Castic’s death comes just weeks after another 27-year-old man disappeared from the same location, the Brooklyn Mirage, in a case of eerie similarities.
Karl Clemente was with a group of friends on June 11, hoping to get into the Brooklyn Mirage around 9 p.m., but was turned away by doormen on suspicion of drunkenness.
He left and went to a nearby gas station, where people often wait to get drinks and snacks before calling Ubers or Lyfts home. He then disappeared.
Clemente’s body was found on June 16 in a creek behind a lumber yard. Police said they did not find his death suspicious, but the investigation is still ongoing.
