Tom and Sarah-Jane of The Block were criticized for “complaining” and “being out of touch with reality” after complaining about losing $100,000 during the show’s filming.

‘Essentially they pay you $100 a day [per person]’ Sarah explained last week.
‘[After childcare]right away we’re left with a combined $80 to cover all our bills at home: our fees, mortgage, utilities, paying for food for ourselves all the time, feeding and clothing our daughter, just everything.’
They were forced to use $40,000 of their savings to make up the difference.

‘That’s how you end up in red! Financially it was a big bomb for us,” she added.
“But you take that risk, money is never guaranteed, we just don’t think about how much you spend while you’re not working.”
During The Block finale, their property had a reserve price of $4.08 million and sold for $4.1 million, meaning they walked away with only $20,000 for their efforts.
The couple also posted on Instagram to tell their fans that the disappointing result meant they sold their Ford Ute.

Sarah explained, “Our plan was to keep it forever, but we needed to repay the money we lost from going on the show.”
However, fans were quick to slam the couple as ‘whiny’.
