The Block’s Paige Beechey slams producers over ‘horrific’ experience after she quit the show with partner Jesse: ‘I was frozen in bed’

Paige and Jesse Maguire left The Block on Monday night after producers had to intervene during an explosive row between the pair.

Paige posted three extensive videos on TikTok on Wednesday explaining her side of the story.

“I’m a little irritated. I think I’ve been through a lot this season and said very little,” Paige said in the first video.

“But the way they handled the whole mental health departure was a disgusting example of a TV show that just wants to make money by being relevant.

“It is clear that they want to transition into the ‘woke’ era, and that this was an opportunistic approach, at the expense of their mental health.”

Paige added that the four weeks she and Jesse were on the show were a “whirlwind” and that everything went “smoothly” in the first two weeks of production.

She claimed the couple had a good relationship with the producers, who called her the ‘Energizer Bunny’.

But Paige added that it was a different story when it came to post-production.

“Nothing could stop me, there were no tantrums, no nagging, no arguments, absolutely nothing for two weeks, and that’s clearly not what you saw,” Paige said.

“That wasn’t the story they were pushing, because in those first two weeks they just turned it into something completely different.”

She said editors cut her and Jesse’s words into what they called “Frankenbites.”

“They did this by literally putting entire sentences in my mouth, and we call those Frankenbites,” she said.

‘They were taking bits and pieces from everywhere and putting them together to make it all fit into the context they wanted, but it was obvious that things weren’t right.

“They would just flat out cut off conversations to make me look crazy. So we were pretty frustrated with how we were being portrayed for the first two weeks. We were just sitting there thinking, ‘What?'”

Paige’s unfiltered judgement continued in her second video, where she claimed she had an “absolutely horrendous experience” during the show’s third week, when the contestants moved out of their tents and into their completed guest rooms.

Paige claimed that during that time, the crew would come to the contestants’ rooms in the morning to film while they were sleeping.

“Without prior briefing, without warning and absolutely without permission, the crew comes into our rooms in the morning to film us while we sleep,” she alleged.

‘For someone with a history of sexual abuse, that was terrible.

‘You wake up in your bedroom, it’s pitch black, and you have three black figures, two or three figures standing over your bed, and it’s terrifying. And that’s how you wake up.’

“I'm a little annoyed, I think I've been through a lot this season and I've said very little,” Paige said in the first video

Paige continued, “I was frozen in my bed, I was paralyzed and I was having full-blown hallucinations.”

Ny Breaking Australia claims that producers were not aware of Paige’s experiences of sexual abuse during filming.

Paige added that the situation had caused her to go into a “spiral” and become “paranoid.”

“I started spiraling down really quickly from those mornings because sometimes Jesse wouldn’t even be in bed with me and I would just be by myself. So most mornings in week three I was trying to combat major episodes of derealization, a lot of confusion, anxiety and worst of all my level of paranoia and all these scenarios that were playing out in my head,” she said.

“I really tried to put all my mental health aside, but everything made me angry. Every little thing — I was nervous, anxious, paranoid all day long, but I really tried my best to be okay,” Paige continued.

“I had these conversations with Jesse, he told a producer what I was going through, and then the morning calls stopped. By the time the morning calls stopped, unfortunately, it was just a little too late for me. I was completely out of it and drowning.”

Paige also said she was “disheartened” by the producers’ response to her deteriorating mental health.

‘What really ties all of this together and what’s so disheartening is that one of the executive producers literally said to me, and I mean literally, “We’ve been watching you slide for two weeks”… right as we were moving into our guest rooms.

“I stand up for myself and say, ‘If that’s the case, why hasn’t anyone come up to me and talk to me?’

Paige then claims she received a “pathetic email that you can make disappear into your inbox.”

Paige ended the extended videos, saying more needed to be done to prepare the contestants for the experience.

“The Block is over to me,” she said

“All I want to do now is urge the network, if this show goes forward, to make serious reforms to the way contestants are prepared.”

She concluded her story by saying that most of the crew had been “wonderful and kind” to her and Jesse during their time on the show.

“I’m really excited that the young people on the crew will hopefully find their way up and make it to the top one day, and they’re really good people. So I think that’s going to be a really nice breath of fresh air for this show.”
