The Block’s Omar Slaimankhel and Oz Malik have laughed at the ridiculous rumor that they’ve “fled the country” to escape public backlash over being labeled as “untrustworthy dealers.”
Western Sydney’s best friends spoke to Yahoo about their recent holiday in Bali with their families, who were described by some news outlets as ‘fleeing Australia’.
They were reportedly heard in-flight complaining about Foreman Keith and their co-stars, saying they needed to “escape everything” before auction day.

Omar burst out laughing when asked about the rumors and said, “That’s funny. That was pretty funny when we did see it then.’
He clarified that they were just on a regular vacation for a few weeks so they could relax before the show’s finale.
‘It’s okay, who cares? They can say whatever they want!’ he added.

Oz explained that they had asked Channel Nine for permission before leaving the country.
“We asked Channel Nine, ‘Can we make a nice two week family holiday?” They let us know when we could, and off we went. We enjoyed it. It was pretty good,” he said.
Their trip abroad followed the scandal of the pair acting dodgy and their candid discussion with Foreman Dan about the show perpetuating racist stereotypes.
Scandal erupted on The Block when Omar and Oz scored a $36,000 baby grand piano for just $7,509.

The couple had also been accused of breaking the rules by buying heavily discounted fixtures and using friends and family as free workers.
Omar and Oz, who are both Muslim, then confronted Dan about the “hurtful” things he and Foreman Keith had said on the show.
Omar, who is of Afghan descent, and Oz, who is an Australian Lebanese, said they feared they would be edited to be shown as “wogs doing dodgy s**t on TV.”
“We really don’t want to sit on TV and have our family and friends watch this, and another million people, and they say, ‘Those two damn w***s on the show are all dodgy season,'” adds Oz, maintenance manager. of the building.
