The Block’s builder reveals what show ‘villains’ Paige and Jesse are REALLY like amid backlash – as its revealed they will quit the competition

A creator from The Block has revealed what couple Jesse Maguire and Paige Beechey are really like, after it prompted a huge response from viewers.

The controversial couple are seen as the ‘villains’ of the 2024 season and have been criticized by fans for their feuds on the renovation show.

Many viewers have criticised the couple’s on-screen ‘breakdowns’, but a builder has revealed what it was really like working with the pair.

Zak Sydenham of ZS Custom Builds stood up for the couple against all the criticism, saying he had a great time working closely with them.

The professional also appeared to criticise the way the couple was edited into the Channel Nine programme.

Despite what you see, [filming The Block] “It was a fun experience, full of humor and crazy stuff,” he wrote enthusiastically in an Instagram post.

“Thank you for trusting us to bring your ideas to life.”

The builder admitted that while the couple had “their moments,” it was never as bad as it seemed on screen.

‘They definitely had their moments, like any couple, but it was never as bad as it is portrayed [in the edit]’, he said Yahoo Lifestyle.

‘It is clear that what has been shown has happened and those conversations [took place]but there is so much more that is not shown, which makes it seem like their reactions and comments are completely out of line.’

His comments come after it was announced that Jesse and Paige will put down their shovels and leave the programme in week five.

An insider revealed that the engaged couple, who make up the youngest team this season, will be leaving the show to save their relationship, Yahoo Lifestyle reported.

“Jesse and Paige asked themselves an important question: Is the opportunity to make money worth risking their relationship?” a source told the publication.

‘Channel Nine gave them permission to leave the show after a number of heated arguments on their hot mics.

“It was a very difficult decision, but Jesse and Paige are both confident that Australia will welcome their decision.”

The Insider further reported that the arguments between Jesse, 29, and Paige, 27, became “pretty toxic” towards the end and tested the boundaries of their relationship.

Viewers have been critical of the couple since Paige went on a rude tirade during an episode last week.

In recent scenes she hit out at architect Julian Brenchley, telling him she ‘didn’t give a damn what he thought’, following a row over the placement of her bedroom with her partner Jesse.

It wasn’t long before fans of the show took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to criticize Paige for her TV antics, criticizing her “childish behavior.”

“Little Miss Princess Paige has never had anyone say no to her. Time to grow up, cupcake, and function in an adult world,” they wrote.

Another disgruntled viewer said: ‘Paige is a moody child. She really thinks people are rude (when they aren’t), stomps her feet on everything and has now smeared 2 sponsors. Not smart.’

“So… I watched The Block an hour too late and this is my main conclusion,” began a third.

One renovation enthusiast compared the controversial contestant to Chris Lilley’s aloof high school character Ja’mie King.

Zak Sydenham of ZS Custom Builds (pictured with Paige) has come to the couple’s rescue following all the criticism, saying he’s had a lot of ‘fun’ working closely with them.

“I’m getting Ja’mie vibes from Paige on #theblock,” they wrote alongside a photo of the popular character.

“I think Paige ruined my block experience,” said another. “I’ll watch the room reveals on Sunday.”

The current series of The Block was filmed earlier this year on the popular tourist attraction Phillip Island in Victoria.

Ny Breaking Australia reported that a Channel Nine company has purchased Island Cove Villas on the Victorian island for a whopping $9.5 million.

The site is a two and a half hour drive from Melbourne and currently comprises nine homes, a communal swimming pool, barbecue pavilion, tennis court and children’s playground.
