The Block EXCLUSIVE: Tom and Sarah-Jane lash out at ‘outrageous’ GoFundMe scam as fake fundraiser ends in less than 24 hours

Tom Calleja and Sarah-Jane Wilson of The Block have distanced themselves from a ‘scam’ GoFundMe page that was supposedly raising money for the couple.

The Melbourne team posted third in Sunday’s finals and walked away with a profit of just $20,000 – the lowest profit since two houses made $10,000 in 2014.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday, an outraged Tom denied any involvement in the fundraiser, calling it a “disgrace”.

Obviously Tom and Sarah-Jane are happy with their winnings and while they appreciate the offers, they don’t accept donations of any kind.

The fundraiser, with a goal of $1,586,670, was started by an anonymous fan to recoup some of the couple’s expenses as they lost money participating in the show.

Only $425 had been raised as of Tuesday afternoon, before the page was closed overnight by GoFundMe.

The fundraiser’s description read: “Tom and SJ earn a lot more for the effort they’ve put into building their home on The Block.

Their positive attitude and willingness to call it what it was made them an instant favorite of the show.

“Let’s show them what the Aussie spirit can do and help raise money to make a difference, start their family and make the 12 weeks worth it.”

During Sunday’s nail-biting final, Tom and Sarah-Jane chose to come in second in the auction order, but their Gisborne home only sold for $4,100,000.99.

That was just $20,000.99 above the $4.08 million reserve.

“It wasn’t in our future,” Sarah-Jane cried after the auction, before admitting that the couple had suffered a “huge loss” from taking so much time off.

‘Ultimate high with the boys’ [winners Omar and Oz] and now extremely low. I didn’t expect to make a lot of money, but I also didn’t expect to end up with a huge loss,” she said.

“It’s the way the cookie crumbles. I can not change it. I just have to get on with it.’

Host Scott Cam comforted the couple by saying, “I just feel in love with you… You didn’t deserve that. We deserved much more. I don’t know what’s going on.’
