The Block star Darren Palmer lists $2.98M Bondi Beach home for sale following a massive renovation

Darren Palmer showed The Block contestants how it’s done on Thursday when he put his renovated $2.98 million Bondi Beach home up for sale.

The 46-year-old interior designer bought the luxurious property in 2015 together with his husband Olivier Duvillard for a few million and threw himself into the renovation.

Darren’s home is now a modern three-story house, but was once a single-story Californian-style bungalow before undergoing several renovations.

When Darren bought it in the mid-2010s, the house was already two stories high, before the author embarked on his own renovation plans.

Darren worked with architect John Deuchrass and construction company Taste Living to completely rebuild the home after purchasing it.

‘The poor old house needs a lot of improvement. I’ve spent years fantasizing about what it would look like when it was finished,’ Darren told Domain.

He went on to say that he had kept only one bedroom “with its original 1920s horsehair plaster ceiling,” but had renovated the rest over the course of two years.

Now that the transformation has long been completed, the house boasts a double indoor and outdoor space, a heated swimming pool and four subtropical gardens.

“Every detail, every finish, everything you see here is a decision I made myself and passed on to my husband,” he said.

Darren described his million-dollar home as ‘a play on a monochromatic colour palette’, adding that it was the perfect style for Bondi.

He said he deliberately designed it as a luxury coastal home, “with great attention to detail,” ensuring each room had its own purpose.

Darren and his partner shared the house with their teenage son and their dogs: Frankie, the French bulldog, and Ziz, the Brussels griffon.

The Block star said that working on his own home gave him a lot of understanding for the candidates he judged in the renovation competition.

“It made me very compassionate and empathetic, because I was going through it too. I would… travel to Victoria to film, and then come back to a work site,” he said.
