The Block shock as beloved cast member ‘steps back’ from 2024 season – after producers were left ‘blindsided’ by exit of two contestants

The Block 2024 is hit with more drama as a popular cast member leaves the series.

Frontman Keith, real Keith Schleiger, has revealed that he will appear ‘irregularly’ in the new season due to family reasons. Herald Sun reports.

“This year’s filming of The Block on Phillip Island required Keith to step back from his full-time duties due to his commitment to raising his two daughters,” a Nine spokesperson told the publication.

‘He couldn’t come to the island for three months. It was literally a bridge too far,” the spokesperson continued.

“But Block fans will be happy to hear that he has been involved as a special guest in the filming of our twentieth season.”

It comes after reports that the program lost two Blockheads early in the season.

While the new series of the Channel Nine show has yet to air, photos from a promotional shoot have all but confirmed that Team Blue, Jesse and Paige have already left.

A source said this Yahoo lifestyle that the producers were blindsided by the exit.

“The production crew had noted that there had been more tears shed by Jesse and Paige… but the ‘wellbeing team’ felt that their behavior had been pretty standard on every season so far,” they revealed.

“None of the other teams had noticed anything out of the ordinary and everyone was stunned as the Western Australian team fled Phillip Island,” the insider added.

However, the insider also revealed that the new members of the Blue Team, Maddie and Charlotte, were unimpressed with the progress being made in their assigned home.

This led to even more drama, forcing them to decide whether to stick with the old team’s coastal escape theme or start over.

“Maddie and Charlotte hope to be able to redecorate the rooms that now look out of place, but a decision on how that might happen has not yet been confirmed,” the insider said.

“No one has been able to confirm what on earth will happen when these two issues collide, and frankly, something is going to have to happen if this house has any hope of winning.”

Earlier this month, the Channel Nine reality show was rocked by rumors that a crew had left the job just two weeks after filming.

And behind-the-scenes photos from a cast photoshoot at Phillip Island on April 8 certainly suggest that’s true, as the Blue team – made up of an athletic man and a glamorous blonde woman – are nowhere to be seen.

The vibrant photos show that the newly added Pink team consists of two beautiful young women in their late twenties: a blonde and a brunette.

The beloved renovation series will make a triumphant return to TV screens later this year, twenty years after it first premiered.

Nine has confirmed that just five teams will compete to convert five properties at the former Island Cove Villas on Phillip Island.

Ny Breaking Australia can reveal that a company owned by Channel Nine has bought Island Cove Villas for a whopping $9.5 million.
