The Block producer confirms huge change coming to the show in 2024 for its 20th season: ‘I’m really thrilled’

Producer Julian Cress has confirmed that the twentieth season of The Block Australia will take place on Phillip Island.

The location for next season of the renovation show has been up in the air since producers were forced to pull the plug on their planned Daylesford renovation.

Now the new luxury location has been locked down and next year’s contestants will film at a resort on Phillip Island, it was reported Television tonight.

“The mayor of Phillip Island recently posted that we would be bringing the show there. I’m just as happy as he is,” Julian told the online publication.

“We had obviously already planned our location for Daylesford but that blew up. We were very lucky to find a beautiful location on Phillip Island.”

He continued, “From what I’ve seen, the feedback from the crowd and the fans who have heard that we’re going there, they’re all super excited.”

Julian went on to say that the location is special to him as he spent many good memories there during his holidays, and he hopes fans will feel the same.

In September there was talk that The Block would be filmed on Phillip Island after it was discovered that Nine Network had splashed millions on a resort there.

According to a report in the Herald Sunbought a company owned by Channel Nine Island Cove Villas for a whopping $9.5 million.

The property is a two and a half hour drive from Melbourne and features nine houses, a communal swimming pool, barbecue pavilion, tennis court and children’s playground.

It is just a short drive from the island’s penguin parade and is described as ‘breathtaking from the moment you arrive’.

A new batch of Blockheads have been tasked with transforming the resort after plans for a season at Daylesford were scrapped.

The show had to pull the plug on the picturesque country town of Daylesford for its highly anticipated 20th season after the production was driven out by locals.

“We’ve had so many successful series in so many different locations, but we don’t go where we’re not welcome,” a production insider told the Herald Sun.

‘Certainly for the twentieth series of The Block, which is so important.’
