The Block judge Marty Fox reveals he tried to get permission to bid in the 2024 auction after being impressed by one team as he hints at winners

The Block’s Marty Fox has revealed that he tried to get permission to bid in the 2024 auction after being impressed by one team in particular.

Marty, along with Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer, judged the 2024 renovation competition and hinted at which team could be crowned the winner.

He admitted he tried to get permission from Channel Nine to bid for the auction, which was due to take place on Saturday, but was knocked back.

The judges themselves will not make any bids, but experienced bidders including Adrian Portelli and Danny Wallis will instead take the final properties.

However, Marty said it was Courtney and Grant’s home that made him want to make his own offer this year after being impressed by the reveal of their master bedroom.

Marty revealed that he was refused an offer by Nine real estate.com.au: ‘So maybe I need to do some more arm twisting!’

Despite seemingly supporting Courtney and Grant, Marty insisted he hasn’t been able to get a sense of who might win the competition, unlike in previous years.

“Every time I watch The Block, or I’ve been, you know, a judge last year, or an auctioneer the year before, you can get a really good idea of who’s going to win, whereas this one actually can’t choose who’s going to win,” he added.

Anticipation has risen for this weekend’s auction, which airs on Nine on Sunday evening, with the winning team yet to be announced.

And the cast of 2024 seemingly did their best to secure the winning title this week.

They were all spotted trying to team up with The Block bidder Adrian while attending the Melbourne Cup at Flemington Racecourse on Tuesday.

Footage shared on social media showed Adrian smiling and laughing with the participants, before sharing a playful moment with controversial star Kylie Baker.

A source claimed that the cast saw it all to get in Adrian’s favor as a ‘ticket’ to winning the renovation competition and that they were all keen to get his attention.

“It was as if Channel Nine told the entire cast that Adrian was a ticket to winning The Block,” said one visitor to the Birdcage.

‘The way everyone competed for Portelli’s attention was next level.

The cast of 2024 have seemingly gone out of their way to secure the winning title, teaming up with bidder Adrian Portelli (pictured with Kylie Baker) this week.

“It was intense and this year’s competitors took the opportunity to ‘schmooze’ like it was a challenge from Scotty Cam.”

“Everyone in the cast was dripping from him and taking pictures,” another guest claimed.

“I would be too if I had the potential to win millions of dollars.”

Their meet-and-greet took place just days before The Block auctions take place this weekend, with one former attendee saying it is crucial to get Adrian on side.

They claimed: ‘Adrian claims he didn’t even watch the show, but in the end it was clear he knew who we all were and that he had favourites.

“The work you can put into your ‘house’ means nothing unless you have a buyer like Adrian Portelli in your pocket.”
