The Block: Jenny and Dylan’s home will sell ‘well above’ $4.8million

The auctioneer who ran the home of Jenny Heath and Dylan Adams on The Block says there is still hope for the pair after their disastrous no-sale during Sunday’s final.

Jenny, 25, and Dylan, 29, were heartbroken after their Gisborne property was turned up at auction. However, they were not the only ones who did not sell their renovation, as Sharon Johal and Ankur Dogra also walked away empty-handed.

Damien Cooley told Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa on Monday, the Blockheads are now looking for buyers with hopes well above the initial reserve.

He told radio hosts Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald and Michael “Wippa” Wipfli that the pair can expect to sell between $4.3 million and $4.8 million.

The highest bid they received Sunday for their five-bedroom, three-bathroom home was $4,075,000, just below the $4,080,000 reserve price.

Cooley said the house is back on the market, but Jenny and Dylan are also open to offers from those who attended Sunday’s auction but didn’t bid.

“They will now enter into negotiations and I assume they will most likely have an asking price well above the published reserve,” he said.

While Jenny and Dylan were given the prospect of not selling their house, Ankur and Sharon were dealt similar cards in house 3.

Both couples continued to negotiate with their highest bidders after the auction ended, but by 9 p.m. on Sunday, neither had sold their homes.

“They will now enter into negotiations and I assume they will most likely have an asking price of a number well above the published reserve,” Cooley said.

It was the first time a Block property had not been sold at auction since season four in 2011, when two houses, Josh and Jenna’s and Rod and Tania’s, were passed.

At the other end of the scale, Omar Slaimankhel and Oz Malik broke records with the biggest sales in Block history after selling their reno for $5,666,666.

“It was a bittersweet day,” host Scott Cam said.

“We had an incredible high and some crushing lows for our Blockheads, all of whom worked the hardest I’ve ever seen to deliver these homes.”
